Cookies are not generally created by email, they come via websites. Usually from javascript these days I think, but that is not the only way. The way it appears here is that when you login it can store you to allow transparent login, which is how I do it because I naintain strict control over the physical access to my PC. This is not recommended for everyone because of different circumstances.

I am not so sure about webtv, but I know this much, even on a system that absolutely positively will not accept cookies you can manually import them. That's how I sign on now. When I upgraded to XP I manually moved the cookie in, and never touched a setting, and I have done this with all the sites to which I need to login. In other words I have forgotten too many passwords.

One important point is your OS, if using Vista it tends to treat you like a twelve year old, "protecting" you all the time, which is an anaethma to many. In XP it is a simple matter of going to internet properties and allowing cookies. What's more if I am not mistaken you can open it up and get your cookies and then subsequently not allow them but the ones you already took will still work.

Another point is if this is a whole new system, how did you get to collarchat (where we are) ? If you posted here, that priveledge only comes by way of a password, which should be the same for the main site collarme.com. That's where you get your cmail and stuff. Did you have to put it in manually ? If it logged in here automatically cookies are not the issue. And even if you had to login manually here there is no reason for it not to work on what many refer to as "the other side" which is the main CM site. (we think)

On any new equipment or OS or anything I would be looking for a filter of some sort. Remember they are trying to protect you. Remembering how you got here might help, did you use a search engine or type it in ? If so the "system" might've blocked the CM main site but not collarchat. If so that's your problem, but if you put the user and password into the main site and it returns "incorrect" whatever, it may be a CM problem. That would have to be taken up with them, or some people get that problem and just create a new account.

Sometimes that is easier because technical support I hear is slow here, but that is understandable because it is free and people are probably working for nothing. Even the dreaded Mod11, their goal has alot to do with image and countering the normal negative bias in society similar to that once faced by homosexuals and so forth. In their position that is more importnt than whether or not a single member can sign on or not. There are a few posters with a sig like "formerly known as". It was easier to correct the problem that way.

Find someone like me, who has a totally open PC and try to sign on from there. That may give you the info you need, that is mainly if the problem is on your side or not.

BTW NEVER run a PC computer totally open like I do unless you know what you are doing and never let anyone touch it unless you are watching closely. I am leery about letting people even check their email on mine, but I have advantages. I don't use this for entertainment much, when I do it's usually off of P2P. No virus protection can help with that. But the advantage is that I boot through everything transparently, hell I would have to think hard for my passwords. Lately I have been making them all the same, again not recommended unless like me you have total control over physical access to your PC.

So to try to find the problem, type in COLLARME.COM and go to where it says login and try your user and pass, what exactly does it say ? Read carefully. If it just returns you to the same screen it is inconclusive, try it on a PC without filters. If it actually says "incorrect password" trhe problem may be with CM. If so it's your call, just re-up with new user/pass or wait until they get time to deal with it. But if on ANY PC it will log on the problem is on your end.

I got rules about PCs starting from day one. Everything automatic is turned off, and I mean everything. Updates, set the clock, remind me, screen savers, screw them all. As far as the screen goes, burn it I don't care, when I get my new LCD monitor, well they just dont burn. Updates ? No, it is working fine. Last updates microshaft wanted to give me were to check see if all the software on my PC is legal. Hardy HAR HAR, you would be hard pressed to find software that IS legal on this thing.

So that's the main thing now, to determine which side the problem is on, and if you just changed your stuff, I would suspect highly that it is on your side. That is the next piece of information we need.

the collarchat part has been wonky on me for some months now.  i can be logged in fine, click to read "off topic discussion" and it logs me out.  for days on end, it does the same thing over and over.  i log in again, make sure the cookie is set, and still, it happens.

mostly on off topic discussion, and sometimes when answering a post.  so i've no clue whatsoever.
