Yeah, so the world is crap, it's doing it's best to get at us, grind us down to nothing or at least something is trying to do it, point your finger in the direction of your choice.

But, what about the self, do you owe the world, or do you owe yourself ?

When was the last time you actually celebrated yourself, congratualated yourself on things you know you are good at, been content with yourself ?

The premise being happiness comes from within.

I recently learned from a friend something that helps, something to do over that morning coffee or first fag (smoke to all you over the pond) of the day, the act of reflecting on the self, the things you can do now, not want to do in the future, but what you know are good at now. Now I believe this has to be done for some three months for it to become habit, but in these difficult times, is it not a habit worth forming ?

But to be honest, the world as it is, has it ever been any different, if it was not the economy, it was always something else, a war, a threat, a famine, unemployment, the list is endless, perhaps with a touch of cynicism, issues that make work for the power hungry.

Something else I have learned, feeling down and discontent is easier than feeling up  and content, perhaps it is we wallow in negativity, it has become second nature, because we forgot ourselves and listened to those with political ambitions.

In a world such as this, the same world it has ever been, foster the power of positive thought, celebrate the self and on a personal level it might very well change.

Don't you feel that people celebrating themselves have gotten us into the current financial mess for the most part? i.e. an overwhelming sense of self interest rather than doing the thing that is right?

I suppose everyone is permitted to make mistakes, as the future is largely blind to us, if positive thought was employed and things went pear shaped, then that is just that, an idea that went wrong, and lessons should be learned. But if those that were in the position of making the erroneous decisions knew it was set to fail, then they are guilty of greed and malice and should be hunted down and removed from the position they hold as an example to others with similar ambitions.

Just to remember people are only people, no one is super human and positions held in power are held by people, people who are subject to the same frailties as everyone else. Perhaps it would do people not to put so much faith in an example of themselves.

I suppose given the current situation, who is not guilty of adding to the mess, who did not take advantage of easy credit and spend beyond their means, for whatever reason, it seems the populace like sheep followed each other, blame the bankers, I think perhaps we all should shoulder some blame, we were led and we followed.

You say that but there are people that saved wisely knowing that the prospect of debt is painful. So they saved up all their money for a rainy day as told to do so by their government knowing the state pension was going to be good for nothing. Now they are being fucked over twice: once with the low interest rates meaning their savings are not acquiring any real interest and secondly by the liquidity easing which means there is more paper money in circulation and so their savings are worth less. People would have been better off just getting into debt because I don't see the punishment for such irresponsible borrowing currently.

I'm tired of people talking about irresponsible lending, people should not expect to be mollycoddled like children and should be able to recognise an unrealistic offer, that really annoys me. Two parties form a contract and both most recognise the pitfalls of it.

Simple, finance institutions got greedy, they saw another way to make yet more money, which is their business, they are by the very nature about making money for themselves, not us. Fine, look for a scapegoat, someone to blame, but it does not alter the fact that we are all in it, the good and the bad, so why not celebrate the self, as the self is clearly better than the blamed.

I disagree that the world is crap.  The world is what we make of it and there is almost always some level of choice.  I celebrate that we have choice.
