ORIGINAL: MsFlutter I found the following (shown in orange below) on digg.com. Those of us who receive e-bills instead of paper bills in regular mail mail can opt out by following the instructions at the bottom: "A small legalistic pamphlet from Verizon arrived today telling me that I have 45 days to opt out of “agreeing” to let Verizon share Customer Proprietary Network Information, i.e., “information created by virtue of your relationship with Verizon Wireless,” including “services purchased (including specific calls you make and receive,” billing info, technical info and location info. They promise to only share this with “affiliates, agents and parent companies.” It will definitely not be shared with “unrelated third parties” … unless, perhaps that third party pays Verizon to become an affiliate, whatever the heck “affiliate ” means." To opt out online on the VerizonWireless website: Log into My Verizon, Click on the My Profile tab Scroll down to Phone Controls. In that section, look for View/Edit Privacy (CPNI) Settings and click on it. It will take you to the Customer Proprietary Network Information Settings page Select "dont share my CPNI" or "OK to share my CPNI" Click submit and you'll see 'your settings have been saved' Soon they will be charging a fee for this just as they do to keep your private tele. ph.no....private. Same with caller ID, pay to see it so now you can pay to...block them from seeing it. Isn't capitalism...great ? I am having Verizon FIOS installed (3-pack) and soon might be getting such emails.
