The GOP is in a unique state because they're out of power, and the Bushies were too unpopular to groom a successor.  McCain is not viewed favorably, and Palin has too many negatives.  Gingrich may have possibilities, although he's a blast from the past.  Jindal just screwed himself with the speech but should be back to some degree.

In short, nobody's looking good for the job, but someone will show up and do it.  I bet it'll be a governor.

And Limbaugh - come on.  He'd never forsake his current job making large money for a run for office.  He couldn't even handle the controversy of being a sports commentator.  Plus, he appeals to the right wing of the GOP but has no support outside of it.

The real humor and joke in this whole thing is that these guys all have the same tired 'trickle down' arguments. Gingrich is the Paris Hilton of politics...famous only because he's famous and is nothing like the TR repub he claims to be. Palin is a political bimbo. Jindal is a superficial, patroninzing, condescending fool if he thinks any real traction resulted from his one speech after Obama's first address.

As for Limbaugh I kinda like watching this crew self-destruct. IF the GOP truly has to rely upon a radio talk show host and his partisan tripe...it will continue to shrink.

Clear Channel is nothing different than XM and Sirius radio did...borrowing millions to pay a single segment's host $400 million. It is possible he may not last for the whole contract. Do you think they will actually make a profit on this man...hardly. Ratings be damned...the advertising money isn't there any more than it is for the dying newspaper industry.

What I enjoy most about debating with liberals is the way they attack people with words like idiot, bimbo, superficial, patronizing, condescending fool, and worst of all "partisan tripe".  Actually, tripe is good eating if cooked properly.  Just boil it as you would say, a liberal, for 20 minutes...at the same time put one can of tomato and one can of tomato sauce into a pot with a little oil and an onion.   Put the tripe into the sauce, don't over-cook, and cook for about 45 minutes.   Great stuff and a real tasty sauce too!  At least I'm trying to bring something to this silly conversation.

At some point it would be constructive if people would point to "specifics" that they disagree with that is more than just superficial stuff that you would expect in freshman polysci.

That's because I didn't.   And that's because, that's all I've read.  Attack attack attack and attack.  And then "oh why are you insulting me?  Why don't you debate intelligently rather than resorting to ad-hominums?"    On dozens of message boards over the last 6yrs "Libs are traitors.  Liberalism is a mental illness.  Libs are commies.  Libs are Nazi's. "    What those aren't attacks?  Doesen't sound like intelligent debate to me.  Unless your idea of intelligent debate is you sit there and say whatever you want to people and and they intelligently agree with you.

And then when it gets thrown right back in their faces, all of a sudden they wanna have a debate.    Gee, what's wrong?  Don't like it when people return your crap in kind?  Well tough shit.  That's what happense when you attack people.

Guys, even Republicans are admitting (some privately, some publicly) that their party fucked everything up.  If the most visible exponent of your point of view can't say more than "I hope the president fails," it's a sign that your ideology is bankrupt.  People tend not to give a fuck about ideology when they can't pay their mortgage.  (And that's a problem Rush will never have to face.)  No one should want to see the president fail.  People's lives are at stake.
