A really funny question, given how many on the liberal side...forgive me, progressive...quote source after source that come from the left.
It's just an old trick...attack the poster personally but not his thought process. It would be a much better environement if we could share, explain and discuss our differences...but, I guess, it's much easier to post silly personal attacks instead of thoughtful analysis. Just look at all the hours of posting on the "Limbaugh Thread" about his taking persecription drugs....a two year old story. Yet no one comes on and says here is a "fact" that Rush gave out today on the Stimulus, Omnibus, nominations...or lack thereof,....only personal gossip talk you might have at a tea party in the boring suburbs.
I don't get into attacks here, at least try not to upon any single poster but often you do attack the people you post about. For example: Again...'Jimmy Carter' was undoubtedly the worst pres. of the 20th century.' Let's review ok ?
It was Eisenhower, who gave the go-ahead for the CIA to arrange a coup of the legitimately elected pres. of Iran in 1953 called Operation Ajax. We installed the Shah as absolute (and ruthless) ruler to prevent Iran from nationalizing their oil industry and there being any chance of jumping in bed with the Russians.
After the revolution the Shah was dying and Carter let in him our country just as ANY repub pres. was likely to do. They cut off oil and then took our hostages. The economy tanked as it did under Nixon and the 73 embargo. Remember Ford's 'WIN' slogan...'win over inflation now' ? So the economy suffered as a result of both embargos and we had stagflation and the term was coined during the Nixon admin.
All during this time Carter was bringing ALL of our technological superiority to the military and it's a good thing because under Nixon/Kissinger 'detent' the Russians obtained IC technology which directly resulted in allowing them to 'Mirv" their missiles. (look it up) All wars are for profit and you have to have real competition to spark a new round of spending...which that 'gift' did.
All the while Carter had Pershing II 's installed on the ground in Europe over much objection and many demonstrations against it. At that point the Rusians KNEW they were not going to be successful in any invasion of the west...anywhere.
So WHO won the cold war ? I say future historians are as likely to answer Carter as they are Reagan. As for the worst pres. of the 20th century...W can be lucky his started in 2001.
