Do you really say 'dang'?  Are you pulling the leg of this poor innocent English boy?

Sure do, also really say "y'all" ... and a few other bad habits that I've picked up from my redneck relatives LOL

Lockit -> RE: Men have better friends (3/14/2009 11:01:08 AM)

Oh shit... I just said 'dang' on another thread...

SweetDommes -> RE: Men have better friends (3/14/2009 11:02:21 AM)

LMAO - I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one.

PeonForHer -> RE: Men have better friends (3/14/2009 12:24:47 PM)

Lockit!  Miss Karen!

- Do you both play the banjo as well?  Ah go on - say "yes!"

I'll let you into a secret.  I don't really go around saying "by Crackey" or "gadzooks!".   Neither do I wear a monocle or bowler hat.  I hope this doesn't bring disappointment.

SweetDommes -> RE: Men have better friends (3/14/2009 1:35:49 PM)

I do not play the banjo ... I much prefer instruments of the low brass variety (trombone being my absolute favorite).  I wouldn't even know where to start with a stringed instrument.

What in the wide world of sports is wrong with "gadzooks?"

Honestly, my favorite, random, no one knows it word is "catywompus" (probably spelled wrong).  For those of you who, like most of my friends, dont' know what it means ... it means diagonal.  My grandpa used to plow his feels north to south one year then south to north the next, east to west the next then west to east after that, and catywompus the next, then start the cycle over ... LOL

KMsAngel -> RE: Men have better friends (3/15/2009 6:29:49 AM)

same thing as kittycorner (a completely unknown word over here - i get very odd looks when i say it)

A wee poll - Did you Americans get Morse and if so, did you like it?  I can't think of a detective show more unlike American police shows (which I've generally loved - especially NYPD Blue and Homicide: Life on the Street - my all-time favourite tec show).

I looooooove Morse...and Cracker. Fitz (from Cracker) is one of my altime favorite characters.

I actually recognise that as well.  I still prefer catywompus though ... it just sounds funnier [:D]

Miss SweetDommes, We had always used catywompus to describe something that was messed up but not quite FUBAR.  Perhaps it was a regional thing.  We used cattycorner (and the diminutive kittycorner) for diagonal in Angel's fashion.

Now Rab C Nesbitt - no jest: that would definitely need subtitles.  The BBC considered giving it subtitles even for the UK audience.

Thankfully they saw sense.  I'm hard of hearing and have no difficulty with Rab.
If it was in Gaelic I could understand.
