DomM&SubK -> A Thought (3/11/2009 5:21:38 AM)

Ok here is a thought am I the only one that never calls there Master or Sir the same name all the time? Yes he is my sir as well as my king and lord and at times my prince and at others my master as well as my big daddy. To me all of these labels mean the same thing he is mine and I am his. I also think of them as terms of endearment like when I just walk up to him call him honey.
Now I have read that there are some masters out there that tell there slave or sub what to call them and sir always told me to call him by his name till I felt ready to call him any thing else. So I did and yes the first night he was my Master but when the sex was over he was back to his name. It took me almost a year to call him Sir before I felt like it was Normal. And don’t get me started on the issues my mother had when she first heard me slipped and call him “Big Daddy” in front of her.
I got the “That is not right he is old enough to be your father” statement. And my statement back was “Mom I didn’t know how old he was when we first meet” “And when I did find out I didn’t care he never treats me like a child but an adult and I am happy so back off”.
Now she thinks it is funny she is still older than him by 9 months and it has become a family joke. So is this comon for us Subs or Slave to pick and chose as the moments hit to what we call our Sirs?

Fox is not just my slave, he is my fiance as well. We have a host of pet names for one another, in private and occasionally in public dpending on the company. He will call me anything from Maam, to beautiful, to Mommy. Only on the forums does he call me his Owner with any regularity and thats to make sure others know who he is talking about. The name doesnt matter to me, its the emotion behind it.

Kitten (AquaticSub) and I have a whole host of pet names for one another, which change and rotate on a constant basis, and we seem to come up with new ones all the time. Mine vary from as standard as "sir" to wildly goofy names that I wouldn't let anyone else but her get away with calling me. Sometimes they're impertinent, sometimes impudent, sometimes just plain aggravating, but all of them are me.

Master knows when he is being treated with respect, is being teased in a good natured way, or being put down.  The first is always good, the second almost always (depends on his mood), and the third . . . well, you don't want to go there.

Which exact phrase or name comes out of a sub's mouth at any given moment is not important, the way it is conveyed is all important!

i would get the slap of my life if i called Andy "Sir" in anything other than fun, and as for "King", "Lord", "Prince" or "Supreme Being" , life wouldn't be worth living on my own, because that's what might well be the outcome!

He has a name, i use it, that's what he wants and what feels natural. True, we use Master in our sessions, it gives me a thrill, gawd knows what it does for him. When we are out and about it's Andy. And yes, there are odd fluffy terms of endearment thrown into the mix when it feels appropriate.

i didn't choose the title used, nor when to use it, he did. As for the fluff, that just happens between us, both make a choice there.

I call Master,Master all the time.  In public i use his given name as per his orders.  Once i called him honey and he gave me a funny look cause i never used that term before.  Master rold me not to call him sir, he was in the Army and got Sired enough.  Master has a few names for me but the one most often used is sweetheart.

Missokyst -> RE: A Thought (3/11/2009 10:06:09 AM)

I don't care what others do.  Men in my life have always been called by their name or a pet name.  Honeybear, sweetness, lover, even jackass.. a name is not a title designating role.  They either are my dominant or they are not, putting sir in there or master does not make it more so.
As for saying sir, oddly enough I find that now that he and I have a non ds relationship, I often say a silent sir in my head when he orders me to do some task.
Freaky.

I think that in a partnered relationship it's reasonable and common to call one's significant other more than one thing.

~FR~
what a novel thing, for someone to have a thought /end snark

OP: I call my M lots of things, sometimes just in my head, but Sir was kept in my head or said under my breath until he allowed it. Sometimes he still takes it away to make me focus on the human being that he is, not as the center of my little universe. It always hurts when he does, but he also always has a good reason.

JulieElizabeth -> RE: A Thought (3/11/2009 2:27:13 PM)

I almost always call Him "Daddy".  Sometimes I feel the need to call him Honey or Sweetheart in an email or chat and I try to remember to capitalize the first letter to show him my respect.

The pet name that is utilized sets the stage for what comes after.  I'll call him anything from "dear" to "UberOverLord" depening on the dynamic and what kind of reaction I am hoping to achieve by my words.

junecleaver -> RE: A Thought (3/11/2009 3:29:45 PM)

I've never had any restrictions on name calling, but was in a relatoinship where it was mandatory to answer Yes or No questions with a Yes Sir/No Sir.

I think what you've got going on is pretty common.

I love you my prickly Boo-cupine.

(It had to be said. But yes... I call him many things. Sometimes they come off the top of my head. [:)])

DesFIP -> RE: A Thought (3/11/2009 4:19:31 PM)

Mainly it's his name or Honey. Sometimes "you rat". But we have teens in residence. If I called him Sir they would all be on our case, either because they disapprove or because they enjoy teasing us.

I'm not allowed to call him Dear. He finds that stereotypical Yes Dear/No Dear demeaning.

Not demeaning, but not the most respectful name either.  Were I to call him "Sir" in front of the TeenAngst, the teen would think I was being sarcastic, and it would probably be true at that point.

FelineFae -> RE: A Thought (3/11/2009 5:29:35 PM)

Once, jokingly, Master asked if i had forgotten His name. lol. We're another house that uses many names and terms of endearment. i call everyone under our roof "Sweetie" or "Honey" even company.

rubberpet -> RE: A Thought (3/12/2009 1:57:16 AM)

I have all sorts of pet names for Mistress.  On the forums, I usually refer to her as Mistress, other times it's either "my owner" or "my gothic goddess".  In everyday life, I usually use a pet name like baby, babe, babygirl.  It's completely random.  I'm very much a jokester, so even in front of friends or family, I'll refer to her even in a D/s way.  Everyone who knows me thinks I'm just being silly or goofy.  It's the perfect cover, but it's not like I really care.  I just usually say what comes to mind.

Jasmine7602 -> RE: A Thought (3/12/2009 2:25:27 AM)

I think it is a very individual thing, whatever works for each unique relationship.  Personally, I would like it to be very natural - and come from the heart.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: A Thought (3/12/2009 4:27:48 AM)

Daddy enjoys being called Daddy ...sometimes i refer to Him as Doctor (because He is one), my love or that "sexy reverse oreo cookie" man.

on the flipside, my pet and i have cutsie nicknames for each other.
