ORIGINAL: slaveboyforyou If they'd drive faster than 50 miles an hour in the left lane on our highways, they wouldn't bother me so much. I don't know what part of Texas those people come from, but they're not from my area. I drive an average speed of 75-90 most of the time on the freeway and plenty of people still fly right past me. Around here, if you go the speed limit, you're likely to get flattened. I was actually surprised how fast people were going down I-10 between San Antonio and El Paso. I think a few must have been going in excess of 100 mph. Of course, it takes forever just to get through Texas. My dad and I were passing through Texas and stopped at a motel just outside of Abilene. (They had great steaks, by the way. Texans know how to make steak.) What I thought was funny was the sinks in the room were cut into the basin in the shape of the state of Texas. I thought that was a bit strange. I can understand that Texans are proud of their state and all, but people generally spit into bathroom sinks, among other things. I was a bit taken aback by that, as I've never seen anything like that in any other state. When my bro 1st moved to Texas,he told me it was legal to drive w/ an open beer while shooting a gun out the window.lol A far cry from tame little old NJ. Once Al Frankin did a remote from Texas (tons of dems there, don`t let anyone tell you different) where an audience member explained what Texas pride was all about in describing bush. This Texas man made a quip that went "bush is all hat and no cowboy" after mentioning that bush was born and raised in New England, mostly and not authentically Texan. He went on to say that in Texas, this was the worst insult someone could make and that you`d have to be from there to understand. The Texan audience burst into laughter from that. Who knew Texans had a sense of humor?
