I detest whiskey, so one shot of that would be excess to me.

I don't tetest it, but I wouldn't drink it strait. I actually love sips from the whiskey glass when it's all melted and mostly water* because of the ice cubes* And just a bare tiny hint of whiskey flavor.

BKSir, You're sounding very intelligent on this subject.... Care to share your thoughts on waking up with a headache? [:)]

I hate it? [;)]

In all seriousness though, that's part of the lack of carbohydrates and dehydration from the alcohol.  Also, one will notice that certain alcohols will do this, and others will not.  For example, I only ever get hangovers when I'm drinking gin.  Nothing else seems to bother me.  Go figure.  If it's bad enough though, a couple midol (no, it won't hurt a guy to take a midol, and they're amazing little things) with some gatorade/powerade and, again, a bagel or two, and you'll be right as rain in no time. :)

I think she means, and I could be wrong, waking up with headaches, and not having drank.

Yes, you are right. No drinking for me but I still woke up with a headache, and It's happening more often these days. Makes for a grumpy girl.

Probably. Be very careful with aspirin when you drink, either right before or even too closely after. That is toxicity from hell for your liver.

(Don't worry about that shit...I have it on very good advice from the AMA that 2 shots of Crown Royal every 30 minutes obviates all that).

Ah, sorry.  Misunderstood.  In that case,
A: try and figure out what all changes you've made recently, be they diet, sleep, stress, meds, hormones, etc.
B: More important, get to a doctor.
A headache every now and then, they happen, but if they're becoming more and more frequent, it's not something to mess around with.  It could easily be a sign of something very serious.
Take good care of that lump of grey jello in your head, it's a very important thing. ;)

Sometimes, I'm told, a morning headache can be caused by dehydration, just like the hangover headache.  Get up & slam-dunk some water & see if it helps.  Sometimes sleeping in a room that's too warm can cause the dehydration.

amen to that.  Drives everyone around here nuts, but I literally can't sleep if it's over 65 F. in the bedroom.  I just tell them, "We have like 15 blankets on the shelf over there, if you're cold, grab one."

Awesome link there. :)  Thank you.  Admittely, I was hitherto unaware of the benefits of eggs.  Then again, if you've ever had a hangover, the last thing anyone wants is to offer you a denver omelette. ;)

PanthersMom -> RE: I think I had my first ever hang over this morning, but it may of beent o mild to be a hang over (3/15/2009 7:49:57 PM)

best way to avoid a hangover?  don't drink.  sit and watch everyone else get drunk, it's more entertaining.
PM

Linnaea I been sucking water down all day  on and off,  I've had like 4 16 ounce bottles and I still feel generally shitty. Not drunk shitty, but like back hurts neck aches, but that's another issue, not the drinking one lol. and I am very thirsty and kinda constipated, not to give tmi, or be to gross.

Hangovers are weakness leaving the body.

No, they're carbs, electrolytes, hydration, and often (and less pleasantly) last night's dinner leaving the body. ;)

I disagree.  A good vomiting session will make you feel so much better when you wake up!!!!
