I have no desire for my preference in a Dommes that isn't exactly the look I'd prefer in all my women. Assuming the same runs true for other people, then the cover girl images of perfection we see on the news rack is not going to change simply because we're also looking for kink. I do want to take this opportunity to say that I have been very lucky to find my current Domme who I find quite attractive. (You can see for yourself at her gallery.)
As for your other questions, I feel that Ds relationships are simply a variation of more traditional romantic relationship. As sexual attraction is an important part of all romantic relationships, I'd consider it an important facet. I always try to take into account the whole package when you're looking for a potential mate. Looks aren't everything and finding someone who has corresponding kinks to yours is a huge plus. I've found myself madly in love with people I was initially un-attracted to because they were able to fulfill me in that special way. As I wrote in my last blog piece, I've often gone through life feeling like the Big O looking for its missing piece. It's a wonderful feeling when you find it.
