Howdy,Why or why not do people do formal and or public collarings? how long does it take for most to reach that decision? i myself plan on have a private collaring with just me and my sub then having a huge wedding with her wearing her collar as well as the ring.

Same reason some people have big weddings and some elope. Depends on what that individual couple wants. There is no right or wrong way to collaring, just do what feels right for you.

Like Greedy and thishereboi said; it's up to the individual couple. Some people go for the public display, some don't. Lumus and I had a very intense, private collaring, just the 2 of us and I wore my collar loud and proud on our wedding day. You can see it in my profile pictures. Lumus knew what He was planning as soon as we realized how much we loved each other and where the relationship was going. For the wedding, we went a little bigger than originally planned because of how many people we wanted to invite and it was His first wedding. It was still fairly casual though. And absolutely wonderful.

It's really up to you and what you want. Like the individual dynamics, it's all up to you.

It is up to what the couple wants and how they go about it

The average time of a collaring is within forty eight hours of opening an account on CM.

genital piercing? nose piercing? belly button piercing? waist cincher? Pony tail holder? bridle or bit? Those are just the first that come to me.

OP: Public Collarings can be really neat and a great excuse for a party, but if you aren't part of a large community of involved people, then it sort of becomes a non-issue. If you just sort of randomly do a collaring at your local dungeon or playspace, people MIGHT watch, but they aren't there to be part of your scene, they are there for their own. IF you want to do a big formal collaring and are part of a large group of people and have a space you can rent, use or perloin, by all means plan it out and have a ball with the invitations!

Personally, I wouldn't want a public collaring unless there was also to be a wedding band accompanying the collar.
As to why: symbolism, public acknowledgment, and, as feydeplume very aptly noted, it's a good excuse for a party.  :>

An awful lot depends on the individual couple or trio etc., just as a wedding may be very private with just two witnesses, the celebrant and the couple intending to be wed, or a huge State Wedding with thousands watching on TV and guests from all over the globe. (Man would I love to see a State Collaring with the Whitehouse front lawn used for the reception).. I think it is good to have close friends present to add to the joy. I did refer to more than a couple, I have known a Master to collar two girls in the same ceremony and doubtless others here have seen similar.

As a puppy girl trainer, collaring is immediately undertaken on physical contact, whether that is at an airport or somewhere more secluded is irrelevant. It is illegal for a dog to roam around outside the property she resides without the appropriate control of her owner and identification tag.

Only illegal in sopme places not on all places..... I'd rather see a dog wandering as long as it is safe, unharmed and not causing hassles and have a large percentage of people I know wandering about unchained and without ball gags.. In and out of the wonderfull, weired world of kink..

I've only been to one public collaring ceremony and personally i found it pretensious and vomit inducing. Might just have been that one i had an adverse reaction to but my prefernce is the private kind.
My recent collaring was private, just Sir me and a lovely locking dog choker chain. I do kind of wish Sirs other slave had been there too though.

When I collared My hubby at the time, there were some invited guests, bdsm and in-the-know vanillas present, and it was lovely (shame about the subsequent relationship). When Master collared me, it was just the 2 of us. That was also lovely and that relationship is still going very strong. I'm not sure I would do a collaring at a more public event where there were substantial numbers of people who didn't know us, that wouldn't feel right to Me. But I would go either a private party or just the household thing with a future sub, whatever felt right at the time.

For the same reason you are having a wedding and having your sub wear her collar as well as the ring. Because the people who wish to have a public collaring want it so. It all boils down to the beliefs people have. Evidently to them it is important to make the collaring ceremony a special occasion and a public one.
