When NOTHING is going right do you ever turn to Music to console you when people just won't do? I easily associate Music with Emotions, when I feel very down I often turn to Music.

When I am really down and I just need to feel like I am not alone I often turn to my Favorite Band Blue October and one of their more well known songs "Into the Ocean" I know what it's about and No I don't feel that way but I like the mood the song puts me in

Do you have anything like this? Any Songs that help with your Mood?

Steel

Steel, I honestly swear that my music has saved my sanity more times than I can count. Funny thing is, I'm standing here bopping along to my music right now and was thinking of starting a thread almost exactly like this. I did some research and found that listening to music stimulates the brain in the same area as our emotions which is why some music can really affect us, especially if we "tag" that music with certain memories.

Right now, I have some 80's Australian stuff (Icehouse with Iva Davies) going that soothes me while I dance to it and brings me back to my wonderful time in Australia. After that, I have some so-called "emo-rock" of Neverending White Lights, a Canadian experimental group on the play list. My entire MP3 player is crammed with my favourites.  You can tell my mood instantly by what music I'm listening to!

Music is my life. It brings me back to another time. I can remember the first time I heard Guns & Roses or Skid Row, what I was doing and who I was with. Or when I hear a song I can tell you when & where I met the artist. Some of the groups that bring me up or keep me mellow are;

  • Slipknot
  • Metallica
  • Down
  • Doors
  • Savatage
  • Slayer
  • Black Label Society
  • Sabbath
  • Metal Church
& way too many others to list.

I love music & the emotions that it generally evokes.  There are times when I can't listen to certain music because I know it would put me down in the depths; other times, that same music lifts me up & puts a big ole grin on my face.  When I was a young woman, I was a dancer & I would select music that would enter my body & flow out in the dance.  I love to sing, even though nobody else loves to hear me sing.  I'll crank some music waaaaay up & just sing at the top of my voice & it makes me feel so good!  I don't know so much about some of the newer groups--I'm an old fart, after all--but some that really get me in a mood are:

AC/DC
Prince--some of it
Willie
George Thorogood
Jim Croce
Mmmmmmm, Buena Vista Social Club!!
Joss Stone
Led Zepp
Johnny Lang
Joe Cocker

& the list just keeps on going!!  I love Jazz & the Blues the most.  But sometimes some country is what's needed & sometimes I gotta love some heavy metal.

I absolutely love music. It lifts me up when I'm down, and raises me higher when I'm feeling good. I associate music with what's going on in my life. For example, AC/DC's Back in Black brings back great memories of my girlfriends in high school and cruising. We were so Hawt! You can tell what mood I'm in just by what's playing on my ipod.
There are so many that I love here are just a few....

The Eagles
Eric Clapton
Gamma
Los Lonely Boys
Nickelback
Bad Company
Santana
Luther Vandross *swoon*
The White Stripes
Alanis Morissette
Sarah Mclachlan
The three tenors
Most anything classical
Most Acappella (specially Christmas music)

Oh pardon me... and of course listening to my Sir sing. Jeesh, I can't believe I didn't list that first. He has an amazing voice.

I just listen to 24 hours worth of Celt music, mostly bag pipes, reels, etc.

celtic genre, classical genre, tangerine dream, andres segovia, and the pipes seem to have a great effect on my mood
sometimes when the sound of human voice bugs me and want just the emotion of instruments.

When I'm in a good mood.... Aerosmith, AC/DC, The Eagles, Styx

When I'm feeling stressed...  Gaither Vocal Band, and Elvis Presley gospel music.  I love his rendition of "Amazing Grace".
