That doesn't really come as a surprise to me. All branches of the military are flush with new recruits right now.With the lack of jobs in this country, the best opportunity for our young people is to join the military.Think about it.....free education, no layoffs, not great, but steady income, free housing and meals, retirement pensions after 20 years.If I were 30 years younger, I'd certainly consider it.

Edit to add: forgot to say that "stop loss" payments were used to keep the numbers up in enlistments. At least for now it's not necessary.

stop loss wasn't a payment beyond the fact that the involuntarily retained received pay for their servitude. Stop loss was the policy of extending contracts of enlisted men to prevent them leaving when they chose not to re-enlist.

When I see those adverts for the military on TV I'm kind of grateful when I was younger they didn't involve PR organisation for their advertising. Living in squalid military housing, crap pay, high mortality rate and injury are things that don't get mentioned at all. The things that do get mentioned include: get a free education and become a professional, free trips around the world etc. Them adverts in the UK at least need to advertise the reality a bit more.

I can just imagine how regimented and obedient- how in shape, how ethical, how enthralled with helping humanity all of this is.  In particular, when you consider the banking leadership government.

We live in a bank.  Not a country.
