I was invited, but turned it down due to unforseen personal reasons

I am actually off to Seattle, so for game time, I will be watching the game in the middle of game time--with the boy.

I will be at a Super Bowl Party, we firmed up our plans last Sunday, during the 4th quarter of the Steelers vs Broncos game. We had to discuss the important stuff....who's bringing what food and what should the main course consist of. Really the game is not incidental, it just sounds that way.

I wish I was. :( But I still really intend on enjoying the game though.

Not I. The beer and pizza are cheaper at my place. Other than that, do they show the commercials at the Super Bowl itself? That's mainly why I watch the game in the first place.

As for cheering, I'll be rooting for the Stealers. I like the concept of hard working coal miner more appealing than some environmental bird.

as someone who completely despises sports, all i can say is...there's not enough money in the world to make me attend any sporting event.

What about beer? Cheer leaders? Socializing? The one time you can wear God Awful NEON colors and make an ass out of yourself yet have everyone think you're still normal?

You may not like the game itself, but you shoudn't let that stop you from having a good time. For some reason, being with someone who is enthusied by the game increases your chances of getting laid when the rooting team wins. So yeah, you can knock the sport, but don't put down the event and extra entertainment.

Absolutely right, Fangs. Pass the beer and neon colours this way!

i don't find anything entertaining about a bunch of grown men, chasing...whatever they are chasing...around a field/staduim/rink...whatever, to keep anouther group of grown men from getting it. nor do i find it much fun watching a bunch of grown, intelleigent(?) people paying excessive amounts of money to witness this kind of nonsense.

my dad screwed up my life shoving this stuff down my throat as i was growning up when i would rather watch movies or listen to music. he'd always pick a day when i wanted to watch some movie or show on TV to take off of work to watch these "stupid" games.

i hope everyone sees why i am so adamant about hating sports in light of these events...if not...oh well. i won't change my mind about them.

Totally understandable. I hate sports too and most things competitive.

But...

I celebrate christmas even though I dont believe in god

I celebrate easter even though I dont believe jesus rose from the dead

I celebrate thanksgiving even though the native americans got royally screwed

I celebrate st.patricks day even though Im not irish

heck, I even celebrate groundhogs day even though I hate that ugly little rat!

Football is silly to me, and I celebrate the silliness.

Might I remind you... beer and neon colours?

LOL

well...i quite drinbking years ago

i also do not get into public humiliation and would never go out into the snow half naked with only body paint (house paint for those who drink too much and can't tell the difference...LOL)

i also have better things to do with my time than to watch a bunch of grown-ups fight for something they could get at a reassonable price at Wal-Mart...LOL

not to mention those stupid outfits they wear

WTF is an 'environmental bird'? And how do you get coal from Steeler? Is that even a sentence? Are you drunk or something?

I understand the concept of despising people who over paid for their athletic prowess. Sort of. But I enjoy watching men pretending to be boys. And they still have their game. So, for me, it's all good. Add in a little controversy.....egotism, fighting, and it's fun times!

You are there, trainspot? How's the hype? I know some who rented hotel rooms months ago, they aren't going to the game, but will be hanging out at a bar and watcing it. I thought that also sounded like a ton of fun. They'll still have lots of atmosphere buzz.
