BlackPhx -> RE: Breed Specific Legislation Own any of these? (3/28/2009 7:19:23 AM)

Yes Arpig it is easier to ban a breed than to require people take a course and qualify to own them or hold them responsible for their animals. It is also easier to ban cars than require people have driver's licenses and insurance, after all more people are killed and maimed by cars every day than dogs have killed or maimed in the past 100 years. Of course our shelters would be working day and night to KILL every one of the banned breeds since there won't be a place they are allowed to live if the state lawmakers have their way. Shelters are already over run with pit-mixes thanks to Landlords that won't allow them and home foreclosures. Now after we have banned the breeds, how long do you think it will be before they also try to ban da kittehs...after all they bite, scratch, can carry toxioplasmosis, worms, ringworm, cat scratch fever and several diseases that can pass to humans. We have more feral cat colonies than wild dog packs and they tear out garbage, pee every where making alleys and buildings smell bad and can carry rabies, leukemia and distemper. I am tired of having our government standing in Loco Parentis and telling us what we can have, what we can't choose to do by ourselves, and damn near diapering us. People in this country need to be responsible for themselves, and that includes deciding if they are going to have guns as long as they are responsible for their security, Dogs, as long as they are responsible for their actions, smoke as long as you are responsible and know it may kill you, what we can eat (trans-fats, you want to commit suicide by cholesterol..go for it) and a whole list of things we need to remember how to stand up and decide for ourselves. Hold us accountable for our decisions, yes, tell us what we can decide..Hell NO. Maybe then people will stop blaming everyone else for bad decisions they make. As George Carlin said..."I love this country for the rights we USED to have." poenkitten
