fergus -> In a funk (1/25/2006 6:47:16 PM)

Is it S.A.D.? Creative block? General malaise?

Who knows.

But I am just in a funk.

Ever have one of those days where you just could do with a BJ and a cuddle?

fergus -> RE: In a funk (1/25/2006 6:49:37 PM)

heck, right now I'd even settle for one or the other.

MHOO314 -> RE: In a funk (1/25/2006 6:52:32 PM)

We all have days where the high isn't as high and the low seems pretty far down--after all we are at the end of the day--human---tomorrow will be a tad better---IMHO

Aileen68 -> RE: In a funk (1/25/2006 6:53:24 PM)

I've been in a funk too for a few weeks now. Think it's the time of year. Winter has a habit of doing that to me. I'm trying like hell to find all kinds of positive things to occupy my brain.

Well, fergus consider yourself VERY normal !!!
I saw a piece on the local news last night reporting that Jan 24th was the most depressing day of the year according to some Brittish research. I googled it just to make sure and yep.. sure nuf.... there it was and here it is :

I know today is the 25th, but hey.. you're pretty close to being on target.

Chin up, my friend, according to reports you will be in the pink again soon.

LOL, well not sure about the BJ, but the cuddle...definitly yes.

And yes, I think we all get in moods like that more often than we care to admit. The best thing is just to keep on believing that tomorrow is another day, brighter and better [:)]

Aileen68 -> RE: In a funk (1/25/2006 7:10:03 PM)

See Fergus. You have normal funk.
Eeeeww. That could be interpretted in a few ways couldn't it.

fergus -> RE: In a funk (1/25/2006 7:11:22 PM)

Thanks everyone :)

Yeah, intellectually I know what is going on. Still doesn't do much for the funk.

But knowing people care does :D

A few suggestions:

Try getting a plant light over your work station.

Try eating a potato around 4pm

Are you getting enough good rest?

Are you taking a multi-vitamin?

You may just be in a period of reflection mentally, and your body knows that and so it is trying to tell you to slow down.

A funk can be a healthy time, a time to reflect on the things that have happened and that are happening. Listen to what your mind and body are telling you, no scientific study has ever told us exactly why and how our bodies do and feel they way they do, so you have to listen to yours. "Feelings are facts."

I highly recommend letting yourself feel this experiance fully, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually - it will pass faster and you will own it, if you do. "Once an experiance is consciously named and internalized, physically and emotionally, it can no longer influence u unconsciously."

You are cared about Fergus. Please take care of yourself. "This too shall pass."

With good wishes and lots of thought cuddles,

LaMalinche

I blame winter. The gray skies and lack of sunshine. Some people swear tanning beds are the answer. Of course those pose their own risks. There is also light therapy, if you think you are dealing with SAD.

How about doing something for you.....a guilty pleasure? If nothing else, it will serve as a distraction.

acissej -> RE: In a funk (1/25/2006 7:42:24 PM)

Aww, Fergus, please don't be in a funk. I'm available for hugs, cuddles and general goofiness, if you need them. Cheer up soon and let me know if there's anything I can do to help!

brightspot -> RE: In a funk (1/25/2006 8:02:46 PM)

I live in the North as you and this time of year I am usually in a Funk too.
This last part of Winter seems to drag on and on and on. There is usually just dirty crummy snow laying around, the dog chit freezes in the ground so I can pick it all up,
and like others have said clouds and grey as far as the eyes can see[:-].

This funk usually doesen't leave me until the end of March when it starts to rain and things begin to get clean again and I know buds are right around the corner.

Hang in Fergus, you are not alone.

Big Huggz to you....

MHOO314 -> RE: In a funk (1/26/2006 9:23:54 AM)

fergus are those antique chandelier crystals in your picture?

fergus -> RE: In a funk (1/26/2006 9:40:54 AM)

Actually, I BELIEVE (as the picture was taken in a friend's shop during a St. Paddy's day gig) that those are antique chandelier pieces made into lil sun catchers to hang in one's window.
