There are a few threads going on in which there has been mention of Doms writing poetry. As somebody who fancies himself a bit of a poet, I would be interested in seeing how many Doms also write poetry, and why (assuming you can explain why).
For myself, it is hard to explain, because I have no real solid reason, i write poetry because I do, it is something I do to understand my emotions, and to relieve stress, and also to keep myself sane.

What about the rest of you?

I've been writing all sorts of things... short stories... poems... for a very long while. I like to create. I enjoy the feeling of satisfaction that comes from having created something interesting... something that people enjoy or want to read. I also enjoy writing purely for my own satisfaction. It's a great getaway. It's fun.

Above and beyond that there is no rhyme or reason...

But yes... I do write poetry.

I like to write poetry because it's more than just writting. It puts an extra challenge to explane or tell what's going on. For me, it feels more creative and mentaly stimulating.

I used to write poetry until I could predict myself (what I would write before I wrote it).

When I can predict other people I'll let you know. It's not happening in this lifetime.

But I am experimenting away.

That's great that you express yourself through writing, poetry is definitely something can touch many people and allows us to expose so many intimate parts of ourselves to those who we share our writings with.

i was lucky in my last relationship to have a man who, although he wasn't destined to be notoriously acclaimed for his prose, would make up poems randomly and not even have them but written or prethought, he'd just create it in the moment. i hope to find that again in my future relationships, i always enjoyed those poems...even the ones that weren't too eloquent were still preciously entertaining in their own right
