MsLiminal -> Training that Virgin Ass (3/25/2009 5:16:48 PM)

The universe has blessed me with a  hot, new sub, but his experience with anal play is limited.  As much as I would like to bend him over and take him with my strapon, that sweet ass of his needs to be trained first.

Last week, I bought him a small butt plug, but it was hard and uncomfortable for him.  I knew once I took it out of the package that it was the wrong choice.  But it's so hard to tell what's going to be soft enough just by looking at it through packaging.

What I'm looking for a quality anal training kit...something soft and pliable that can be easily cleaned.  I have a sadistic streak, but anal play is one area where I aim for pleasure.

Any suggestions?

FelineFae -> RE: Training that Virgin Ass (3/25/2009 5:20:00 PM)

i can't tell you of training kits, but i'd get a vibe first. use it ( covered by a condom ) to massage the area. this has helped me to relax the muscles.

Tantriqu -> RE: Training that Virgin Ass (3/25/2009 5:33:22 PM)

No toy until you can get two fingers in.  Lots of lube, of course.
I prefer slender toys with a head, and always a vibe.
I have used Anal-Eze with some:  it can be a Catch-22: if they spasm, they feel more pain, they spasm more.
I also start them off with an erection, and remind them that very soon they might be on the end of a Strap-on:  gets them very enthusiastic very quickly.

Good luck.

LovingMistress45 -> RE: Training that Virgin Ass (3/25/2009 5:33:53 PM)

Look for a plug that is labeled gel or jelly. They are very soft and flexiable.  You can get some that are only like a finger width.  Also, vibrators that are jelly are good, just get a very thin one.  If you don't have a problem with it I fingers work really well. Use a lot of lube, but don't get the ones marketed for anal play as they have benzocaine which cuts down on the sensations.

Starting with fingers (make sure your nail aren't extremely long and are smooth) is really good because you can feel the spincter muscles and massage them until they release.  You can wear examine gloves if you like.

If you want more details feel free to email me, I love anal play.

DavanKael -> RE: Training that Virgin Ass (3/25/2009 6:25:29 PM)

I'd highly recommend visiting Tristan Taormino's web site for info on many matters anal.  She's waaaay sex-positive and highly pragmatic.
Anyway, I'm not one of those folks that believe that training needs to occur prior to strap-on use.  I would use mouth, fingers, perhaps lube, and recommend teaching him to relax about matters anal.  Also, as you're penetrating, telling him to 'push out' with hismuscles may help him to acclimate more readily.
Congratulations and best wishes,
  Davan

ShaktiSama -> RE: Training that Virgin Ass (3/25/2009 8:26:29 PM)

Fingers and small toys made of jelly first--lots of lubricant at all times. A lot of the "bad pain" in the initial stages is based in fear and apprehension rather than potential damage to the body, so go easy on the psychological stress associated with these scenes until he's more accustomed to penetration.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Training that Virgin Ass (3/25/2009 9:41:17 PM)

Jelly toys are horrible  things and should never be recommended, the plasticizers it's made out of leaches out of the toy in a process called off gassing and it's toxic and many people have severe and painful and horrible burning reactions from jelly toys. It also stinks and is very sticky and hard to keep lint and other debris from being attracted to it.

Silicon toys, and glass toys are   one of the few of the best as far as quality of materials go, they do not off gas and do not cause horrible burning of the genitals and mouth, because of the horrible off gassing.

What are some of the health hazards consumers should be aware of when buying sex products/toys? Stay clear of jellys, nonoxynol-9, and "lotions and potions". Using Jelly products for oral, vaginal, or anal stimulation is going to introduce Phthalate and other toxic solvent absorption into the mucous membranes of the body. These chemicals provoke eye, respiratory, skin, and mucous membrane irritation. Headaches, cramps, and nausea are some of the side effects that result from exposure at the levels found in the study.
Even if you don't give a crap about consequences, the Jelly's are just plain gross. Regardless of whether you sheath the thing in condoms every time you take it out of its box, it's still going to degrade and fragment, off-gas so that it leaves an oily stain behind, fuse to its packaging and stink like an old car tire. Is any part of that sexy? Nonoxynol-9 is a harsh detergent. You wouldn't use Borax for lube so don¹t use a lube with N-9 either.http://www.womynsware.com/Side%20Menu/BuyerbeWomynsWare/Sex%20Toy%20Safety

Like I said in my post below to shak Jelly is the crappiest quality toy you can buy. Sure, they're soft but they leach their chemical  plasticizers and can cause horrible burning to the skin and in severe cases of allergic reactions can cause blistering.

Hi, Yhma----
I agree that the jelly items are so very inferior to glass and silicone.  All of the reasons you discussed are valid ones.
I have noticed, however, that my favorite strap-on (the feeldoe...though, I have recently seen a new creation that looks like it may actually top the feeldoe...blasphemy, I know, but I've gotta check it out) is a firm silicone that has greater rigidity and textural hardness than toys made of other materials.  Men are often delicate creatures (Even the big, masculine ones) and I have noticed that sometimes (And, I don't have volumes or empirical evidence here, so take it as you will) there have been issues with a feeling of internal tenderness (Ie: being bruised several inches inside) whether gentle or harsh technique is used.  Now, when I've been on the receiving end of anal sex (Never with that particular toy...hmmm, gonna have to increase that empirical research), sometimes there's an ouchey sensation but I'm generally smug about it, joyous little perv that I am.  I don't think it's a matter of technique (Feedback is important).  I have wondered, though, if it would be possible to maintain the quality of the silicone while softening it up a bit, not as rubbery as the jelly toys but perhaps in between the two.  I would never want to sacrifice the quality or safety of silicone but a greater softness of the overall construct may be a benefit.  As I said, have to check out that new item I saw...don't recall the name but I got an advertisement from Toys in Babeland and I'm sure if you searched the feeldoe or nexus, you'd get that as an additional option.
And, back to the op, I would say that if you're concerned that your male may be one of those delicate men, it may be worth looking into strap-ons of various materials or construct and if you use something jelly, perhaps covering it with a condom to diminish the health and allergy concerns while providing a softer material.

I think it's best to use a condom on any toy, regardless of material, that is used for anal - much easier/less unpleasant to clean up. Just remove the soiled outer layer, throw it out, then use the disinfectant/sterilising technique on a reasonably clean surface.

I agree, although I don't stick to that rule religiously. Especially when I suddenly feel like pounding a butt and don't want to run to the drug store at 2 am.

I have never had any of the problems you're describing with my toys. Apparently not all of these toys are created equal, but I have NEVER seen ANY jelly toy decay like this in the time frame that I use them! I have no idea how long and in what conditions you have to store a toy like this to get the leaching, melting and decay you're describing, but we must be talking about conditions to which my own toys are never subjected.

ANY toy created from ANY substance that causes your partner pain or an allergic reaction should be discontinued; if these allergic reactions were as common as you seem to think, however, the toys would be impossible to successfully market. Personally, from my point of view the price of the toys you're recommending are always 400+% higher than a similar jelly toy, and it never achieves the effect that jelly gives: all the toys you're discussing are much more rigid, and it also pays to recognize that the recommended use for them is always a woman's vagina, not a man's ass.

The vagina is a different orifice than the anus in a variety of ways, not least in the volume of secretions to which toys are subjected and the ph qualities of those secretions.

As for Nonoxynol-9...um, that's a CONTRACEPTIVE additive. Just a hint, but most people don't need a spermicide when inserting a toy into a human anus--especially if that anus belongs to a man.

glanstat -> RE: Training that Virgin Ass (3/26/2009 11:14:51 AM)

As one that is on the receiving end of training a few suggestions:

1.  fingers first
2.  small vibrator
3.  small butt plug
4.  Then a series of dialators, start small and then workup, my ass is almost to the 2"
5.  other toys in the larger 1 1/2 range
6.  the pump up butt plug is very good, easy to get in and then expands the anus softly and keeps it expanded as long as the air is in it.
7.  then more fingers etc, I am getting close to getting fisted, just a matter of time
8.  next step, I believe she has a visiting sub in town for a week, she has been giving hints that she wants him to peg me.  We will see what happens, if he is not to big it should not be a problem.

Off gassing of phthalates is notw becoming a more well known phenomenom.

I've had jelly toys decay and leach.  I owned these toys for two to three years and they were treated and cared for immaculately.  (i.e. not subjected to extreme use conditions;  always cleaned after use;  stored in a cool, dry place;  etc.)  Some of my other jelly insertables have done this too and consequently I no longer buy this type of toy.

I won't disagree here.  Where we may disagree (and I may also disagree with others in the thread) is that I don't think soft toys are necessarily the most appropriate for anal play, even for beginners.

Personally, as a giver or receiver, I like to have a sense of control.  With jelly toys, I never feel in control because they bend and compress in different ways and amounts for different people.  Likewise, answering purely as a receiver now, I like the feeling of something more solid.  With solid toys, the consistency and width are easier to gauge and to become accustomed too.  Essentially, with anal play, you're stretching and exercising muscles.  Therefore, as with most athletic exercises and training, you want something that gives consistent control and response.

Case in point, when I squeeze down on something to help open and warm up my muscles, I don't want it to give way.  I'm not suggesting to start beginners with phalli of considerable girth and length, however, it has been my experience that a series of solid toys that gradually increase in size are the best way to become accustomed to anal penetration.  Fingers are just such an example.  When you place one, then two, and then three (or more fingers) inside someone, you're creating gradually increasing diameters.  And generally, while they have a bit of give, fingers are quite solid.

In standalone, anal toys (i.e. toys not attached to anything), I look for an additional, critical attribute:  a large, comfortable, flanged base to stop the toy slipping inside the anus.  Depending on a domme's purpose and/or the submissive's tastes and mindset, one might choose a toy that narrows between it's widest part and the flange (allowing comfortable retention for long periods) or a toy that is consistent in width from end-to-end (bigger stretch, bigger mindfuck, bigger-better assfuck :-).

Elan.

ShaktiSama -> RE: Training that Virgin Ass (3/26/2009 3:02:49 PM)

*sigh* Oh well. I'm not a petrochemical expert, so if toys are made unsafe by softening the plastics you obviously shouldn't use them. I guess there is no "softer" alternative to unpleasantly and brutally hard sex toys, nor will there ever be, if the very process that softens the material makes it break down in unsafe ways.

It's too bad, really. Glass and steel can be pretty, but they are brutally hard in my opinion, especially for a newbie. Silicone is even worse, because the material is not only rigid but has the added disadvantage of drag. I guess there isn't a safe gentle way to break your submissive in--you just have to break him, period.

*she hides a sadistic smile* Pity, that.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Training that Virgin Ass (3/26/2009 3:58:59 PM)

These toys are still around for two reasons. The first is that the U.S. government does not regulate the sale of sex toys because they are considered novelty items. So, the toy manufacturers do not have to adhere to any sort of health code when making their toys. Second, they are far cheaper to produce.

You might try cyber skin all though I don't know if it has the same off gassing as jelly does, and adamandeve.com took the plasticizers out of their toys, so they may sell jelly like ones with out the plasticizer in it that leaches chemicals.
