Shakti, (I'm replying to your post, but largely providing commentary for anyone reading the thread.) quote:
YourhandMyAss: Like I said in my post below to shak Jelly is the crappiest quality toy you can buy. Sure, they're soft but they leach their chemical plasticizers and can cause horrible burning to the skin and in severe cases of allergic reactions can cause blistering. ShaktiSama: I have never had any of the problems you're describing with my toys. Apparently not all of these toys are created equal, but I have NEVER seen ANY jelly toy decay like this in the time frame that I use them! I have no idea how long and in what conditions you have to store a toy like this to get the leaching, melting and decay you're describing, but we must be talking about conditions to which my own toys are never subjected. I've had jelly toys decay and leach. I owned these toys for two to three years and they were treated and cared for immaculately. (i.e. not subjected to extreme use conditions; always cleaned after use; stored in a cool, dry place; etc.) Some of my other jelly insertables have done this too and consequently I no longer buy this type of toy. quote:
ShaktiSama: The vagina is a different orifice than the anus in a variety of ways, not least in the volume of secretions to which toys are subjected and the ph qualities of those secretions. I won't disagree here. Where we may disagree (and I may also disagree with others in the thread) is that I don't think soft toys are necessarily the most appropriate for anal play, even for beginners. Personally, as a giver or receiver, I like to have a sense of control. With jelly toys, I never feel in control because they bend and compress in different ways and amounts for different people. Likewise, answering purely as a receiver now, I like the feeling of something more solid. With solid toys, the consistency and width are easier to gauge and to become accustomed too. Essentially, with anal play, you're stretching and exercising muscles. Therefore, as with most athletic exercises and training, you want something that gives consistent control and response. Case in point, when I squeeze down on something to help open and warm up my muscles, I don't want it to give way. I'm not suggesting to start beginners with phalli of considerable girth and length, however, it has been my experience that a series of solid toys that gradually increase in size are the best way to become accustomed to anal penetration. Fingers are just such an example. When you place one, then two, and then three (or more fingers) inside someone, you're creating gradually increasing diameters. And generally, while they have a bit of give, fingers are quite solid. In standalone, anal toys (i.e. toys not attached to anything), I look for an additional, critical attribute: a large, comfortable, flanged base to stop the toy slipping inside the anus. Depending on a domme's purpose and/or the submissive's tastes and mindset, one might choose a toy that narrows between it's widest part and the flange (allowing comfortable retention for long periods) or a toy that is consistent in width from end-to-end (bigger stretch, bigger mindfuck, bigger-better assfuck :-). Elan.
