i miss it, we had a fantastic DM but life intruded after awhile and the groups busted up...i have thought about trying to get back to it, just afraid i'd be disappointed and it would sour the memories of playing till dawn, pizza boxes everywhere,etc.

vincent63 -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 11:33:13 AM)

Feline,ours was always a half dozen extra large with extra cheese and pepperoni, and a case of Coke

FelineFae -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 11:39:11 AM)

We have those too. Our groups try to rotate munchies, or everyone bring something, or everyone chip in.
We're military folk, so it all depends when pay-day falls.
And it never hurts when the DM's wife delivers pizzas and gets them on employee discount.

vincent63 -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 11:48:12 AM)

Feline, what campaign setting?prepackaged or out of the DM's head?

adrian28 -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 11:55:14 AM)

Oh, how I remember those days. Gaming till sunrise, arguing rules and definitions with players, and finding new and interesting ways to kill them all.

FelineFae -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 11:55:15 AM)

We've played original to 4.0, and i'd imagine every venue therein.
Generally we run out of head, maybe with a town or lair from a modual every now and again.
i relish world building, and can't be satified unless i have all detailed down to the level of chorophyll in the blades of grass.
Military folk have wonderfully twisted sadistic minds well suited for DMing.
Sometimes i co-DM with Master, and He'll run combat for me, i favor the more creative side of it all. [:)]

FelineFae -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 12:02:21 PM)

SteelofUtah -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 12:08:07 PM)

Bag of Holding anyone?? Eh? Eh?? We kept our Horses in it. When I managed to roll 4 natural 20's to determin it's ability to carry. The Campaign got a little silly after that.

Do you know that some DM's will not acknowledge that you actually have a Bridge Troll and a Fire Gollum in your Bag of Holding?

Steel

PS. I spent more money on Graph Paper and most of my School days Drawing Maps and Setting up Multiple Campaign Plots than I care to Admit, but when you have a situation where the only path of logic you all could agree on was 17 cases of Jolt and we were spending the WEEK ironing out what items would and would not be allowed. Also we liked inventing our own Items, weapons like the Clip Swooner, Which when used the player had to roll between a 8 and 12 on a 20d to make it work but the ability was it would drop all of your Stats to 1 and add everything that dropped to your Charisma and as long as your were clothed you could get anyone to agree with you..... or want to do what you wanted them to do.... Yes it was used to sleep with Bar Wenches with Huge Boobs. However it came in very handy when one of my mates was caught sleeping with the Viscounts Wife and managed to talk them into a Threesome.

Game Talk Gotta Love it.

"""Give it the Mage""""....... Classic Almost as good as "Can I use the Dwarf as a Weapon?" then all upset. "YOU AREN'T TOSSING ME AT THAT THING!!!!!"

DrkJourney -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 12:08:58 PM)

-THACO- the horrid armor class offence

not nearly as bad as the deck of many things

No!  Not the Deck of Many Things!  Our party ran smack into a Great Red Dragon.

DM:  The sleeping dragon twitches, and his eye opens staring at the thief holding the jewel-hilted sword.

Thief:  Uuum.  Hi?

Firemage:  Oh, pardon us, uh, sorry to have woken you.  We'll be leaving now...

Paladin: Have at you!

Dwarven Fighter/Engineer (me): Nice knowin' ya sword-breath...

Cleric:  Oooh! I know!  I draw from the deck and he'll turn into a litter of puppies and kitties!

Rest of Party: NO!!!!

*rattle of dice*

DM:  You are now faced by twenty Beholders...

Carpe DM !

Cease the Dungeon Master!

You know it's gonna be a bad session for your characters when the DM walks in wearing a shirt that says 'CORONER'.

Our sessions usually included Papa Murphy's pizza (take and bake pizza) and tubs of cookie dough until 4 in the morning...

vincent63 -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 12:47:22 PM)

was it just my group, or were clerics, as a species, incredibly dimwitted?

and. my dear man, what'type'would be that be?

Nerds, dorks, spazzes, geeks.....you know, them types.  Can often be found at Ren Faires, comic book stores, Trek conventions, and will be the reason I wait for a few days to see the new Star Trek movie next month.  I won't be standing in line with 35 year old men dressed like Klingons, shooting plastic phazers at each other, while debating whether T'Pol was hotter than the new U'hura.  I used to think that shit was hillarious, but I quit smoking pot along time ago.  [8D]

vincent63 -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 1:17:24 PM)

actually, i think the correct spelling is phasers,,,[tongue firmly inserted in cheek]

vincent63 -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 1:28:31 PM)

there was a clip on YouTube , that came out several years ago, of  Triumph the insult comic dog, interviewing nerds, geeks, dweebs,social outcasts, etc, outside the preview of the latest star wars film,,not sure which star wars it is since the clip is several years old,,,and I cant watch youtube anymore since i get the error message that javascript is either turned off or i dont have the newest version of adobe's flash player,,,,since i am not a computer geek, just an AD and D geek, i can't figure out how to fix it,,,but just type in Triumph the dog and it will come up,,and go pee first or you might embarress yourself

Vendaval -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 2:08:28 PM)

Are you talking symbolically or literally here?  I don't know many Viscounts running around with their slutty wives.

*is Such a geek* Damn straight I know what it means.  I've been gaming since D&D first hit, more years ago than I personally care to count.  I was THE ONLY female in our highschool's d&d/gamer's club.  And I'm a DM in that sense as well as a GM for WoD gaming.

girlygurl -> RE: not so much a poll as a question (3/26/2009 2:29:21 PM)

No, I didn't know what it meant and I've already forgotten what it meant. Too many substances as a young las.

I do enjoy playing Guild Wars... Does that count for anything? [:)]

I have seen it, and it is hilarious.  Another skit that was done on Mr. Show on HBO years ago is funny too.  A Ren Faire group, Trekkies, and Civil War reenactors show up to use a park on the same day.  A battle ensues.  Very funny.

Vendi, I Love you.

It was a Plot in a Paper and Dice Game. But I love that fact that somehow you got a Visual.

You are wonderful.
