I was just talking about those things the other day. A friend of mine just took a road trip back to where she grew up in upstate NewYork. She has made this trip multiple times. Yet, this time, she felt the need to get one of the new GPS things. I really like this person and I know she is a sensitive soul so I bit my tongue. Then she asked "LeeAnn, aren't you planning on driving out to see your sister in a few months?" To which I replied "why yes Laurie, I am" .......still biting my tongue "well LeeAnn, I think you would really love having that (whatever her's is called) in your car." Now I am really biting my tongue. Yes my sister has moved, and no I've never been to the town. However, I do know where Colorado is, I have been there. I do know the general location of this little podunk town and can find it on an actual paper map. I've been getting around this fine country for several decades with maps and other people's directions. Somehow I am quite confident, even with the handicap of not having the latest in techno gizmos, I can find my way from my little farm in SE Iowa to my sister's house in a little podunk town in SW Colorado. I have a map, a cell phone, lots of great CD's to listen to, and will have an amply supply of water and road trip munchies.
