Not quite a reply, Steel, but I've normally found the answer to any questions I have out on the internet. What at times troubles me is that I see quite a few people on boards who could do with professional help, but instead use bulletin boards and forums as a shortcut, not understanding that the universe expands faster than they can run..

Being fairly new to CM and this lifestyle I find it very helpful. I have found out about things that I was unsure of or just didn't know.

Sometimes the outside static makes more sense than the internal static.

I don't think that is what they are calling that these days.

Thank you however for your Input Lam, I tend to get a kick out of your replies.

pinkwind -> RE: What do you think it accomplishes? (3/27/2009 2:01:53 PM)

i ask on odd occasions because there are times when i need the input, pure and simple. i don't ask fluffy questions, only ones i really am stumped about, and only ask in the places i think i might get a few decent words of advice amongst the dross. After taking time to think, assimilate and cogitate, i reach an answer. How does coming here help? It can sometimes shorten the time i take mulling over a problem.

But what of the other side of the coin? Do those of you who can be frequently found offering opinions think your input does any good, either positively or negatively?

I have never started a thread, but I think that asking for help on the board is a way of knowing you are not alone in the way you think/feel.  Which is why when I respond I try not to be snarky.  Sometimes just knowing others have similar thoughts/feelings/experiences can be helpful.

As i am fairly new to the lifestyle, i find the Message Boards very educational as well as incredibly entertaining.  Yes, i have started posts before myself when i truly need to know something and don't know where to go for the answer......i appreciate all input.

Probably very little for me. I still go my own sweet way and do my own sweet thing *sighs*

DemonKia -> RE: What do you think it accomplishes? (3/27/2009 6:38:54 PM)

I rarely consult forums & discussion groups to get facts, but rather to gather opinions . . . . . .

Since I can only experience what I can experience, the experiences of others are innately informative just for being different from what's possible for me . . . . . .

I've never been much on the notion of 'too much information', all the data I can gather is all too often barely enough . . .. . . lol

The Demon, Kia

DemonKia -> RE: What do you think it accomplishes? (3/27/2009 6:45:00 PM)

& I learn an enormous amount about humans just from the way they read or don't read the other postings, the original question, & so on . . . . . lol . . . . But unlike with in-person convos, I can go back & check what was said previously in an online convo, can proof-read & content edit my contributions . . . . . . .

I also tend to think that text is a place I really shine, so let's not forget the opportunities forums & discussion groups offer to show off -- which is probably more satisfying more often than most would admit . . . . . lol

The Demon, Kia

Speaking only for myself (duh!) - i have learnt things on this forum that would never have occurred to me - eye opening in fact! [:-]

I have also learnt that regardless of kink or fetish or age, we all have the same problems, need the same kick in the butt, and the same hugs and sympathy.   I guess i am really saying that we are all human after all the retoric. [:)]

For the most part, no.  There have been individuals I think something I said genuinely helped, but I also tend to feel the vast majority just don't listen.  They may read whatever was written, but they don't comprehend.  Or else if they comprehend, they choose to ignore it anyway.  Lately, I've peered in occasionally (as I haven't had much spare time to get involved in disussions), and it has seemed to me that many of the same old chestnuts were being roasted all over again... with the same predictable answers and opinions, often from the same quarters and sometimes even brought up by the same individuals as in discussions past.  It really does make me wonder how much, if anything much, is accomplished by all this debate.

It has been suggested to me by several that I ought to write a book or two.  I'm beginning to think that if I get the time, I should.  I still don't think it would change a thing for the majority who read it... but at least I'd get paid something for my time and effort.

Vendaval -> RE: What do you think it accomplishes? (3/27/2009 9:36:48 PM)

You could also self-publish and promote the book at events and Online.

Padriag -> RE: What do you think it accomplishes? (3/27/2009 10:30:43 PM)

That would require having the time to go to events, which I don't right now... course right now its all a moot point since I don't even have the time to do the writing.  The irony is I actually did start a book several years ago, the outline of which has been languishing on my computer unfinished (the same laptop which recently crashed, fortunately I managed a bit of technical wizardry and have been able to recover portions of data off the damaged HD).  Maybe one of these days, right now I have more immediate concerns to deal with.

Vendaval -> RE: What do you think it accomplishes? (3/27/2009 10:56:08 PM)

I am here to meet and beat hot babes and boy toys.  [sm=crop.gif]
