...So Seriously what does asking for help on this board actually accomplish?

**As a side note, I know the purpose people ask, I am more curious to know if it ever actually helped and if you did something other than what you were going to do anyway after you waded through all the Comments.**

Well, I've learned a little jargon.
And I've realized how widely people can vary in their interpretations and the value they place on things.

I don't think I've changed my behavior due to something I've read here, but I will have to think about that more. It's possible that I've been inspired in some way.

But what of the other side of the coin? Do those of you who can be frequently found offering opinions think your input does any good, either positively or negatively?

Sometimes I just hope to present or explore different ways of looking at things. Or offer support for an idea I think is interesting. That, to me, is positive, but I don't flatter myself that my ideas are terribly original or life-changing.

Yes.  It has definitely helped me, and reading the responses to other people's questions has helped me, too.  The day  I decide that other people's advice is not applicable to me, then I might as well get "Idiot" tattoed backwards on my forehead so that I can read it in the mirror.  Some of the biggest mistakes I've ever made were thigns that my loved ones tried to tell me not to do.  There is so much I don't know: about life, about bdsm, about relationship, about communication.  There aren't many places where I can discuss how wearing a chain to bed makes me feel or different techniques of using chains for pleasure and pain.  By coming here and posting a question, I hope to expand my thinking, look at something a different way, or just have a small amount of reassurance that I'm not alone.
