So the boyfriend and I recently made our own paddle.  We used the paddle base you can get at an art supply store, adhered grip tape (the top part of a skateboard) to one side and finished it with paint and sealant to our liking.  It was a rather inexpensive project and is quite the scary beast right now.

Anyone else have an inexpensive project they've completed that has worked out well and that they would like to share?  We're always open to finding ways to make toys on a budget.

leather or silk cord + D and O rings + macramai = [;)]

That's wonderful!  i recently saw the paddles and considered doing the same but wasn't sure how it would go.  Your post has inspired me to try it!

i tend to walk through the craft store and get a few good ideas, depending on the situation the sub/slave could be forced to make a scrapbook or punishments/shame, or find some cheaper material and make their own dog bed which they will be sent to for "time out" or maybe to sleep on?

On the pain toys topic get 7-8 strands of cord and put it through a hollow tube of some short (to serve as a handle) and secure it there (fill it with hot glue or make knots on both ends).  Then at the end of each cord attach a bead of your liking and there ya go!  A whole new kind of ouch!

Frugaldomme rocks! I made most of my own toys, including my paddle, which is 3 layers of thick leather JB Welded together. [:D]

Here is a cheap and fun one for you.  Go to your local music store and buy ten metal guitar picks the kind that have a ring to slide on the end of your fingers.  They are cheap and make good claws.  For the more adventuresome you can take a file or dremel tool and sharpen the edge quite nicely.

During a lull in the action at a retreat with my local group, I plaited 4- 1/4" strips of leather into about 1' length, leaving a good 3" of strands loose at the end. I found a 3" stick in the yard, whittled it smooth, and attatched the leather to one end. Took me about 20 minutes, and its one of my favorite toys.

I bought many basic pieces of equipment and some books from Frugal Domme.  Domina has a very no-nonsense attitude that I like and respect.
