http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4oqrXevTUA   CA may ban black cars

I wonder if any exceptions to hearses.   I had 1 black car.  I scalded during the summer sitting in it.  SO no, I dont have to have a black car.  I do think the law is silly.

I would buy a black Mercedes SUV.  If I were rich.  Oh, yes.

Absolutely NOT! I wouldn't buy a red one either ... not while living in Florida anyway! White or silver for me in the 'Sweat-bucket state'. A lot of black cars look stunning ... in the showroom! Out in the real world they seem to magnify every speck of dust, paint swirl and stone chip.Although, offer me a Porsche 911 or a Ferrari F430 in black or red for $500 and I might just take it!

The problem with black cars is they show up the dust just like white ones. Other hues just change when they are influenced by the dirt. Also if a black Jaguar crosses your path it is considered unlucky so we should limit the exposure to bad luck.

Are the Cali legislators just LOOKING for amusing distractions while their insolvent state burns down?

I have a black car and I live in Florida. It's not any hotter on the inside when sitting out all day than cars of any other colors. In some cases, it's actually cooler than my parent's silver colored car under the same sun conditions.

I think the interior color is the important thing. My car's interior is taupe/beige while my parent's car has a dark blue. They have tinted windows as well, which may actually hold the heat in.

I've been happy with my black car. And yes, it does show every tiny bit of dirt and scratches but it's not bothersome so much to me.

I drive a black beater.... I can't imagine this law getting passed.

It's hot as f---... but I'm pretty sure it's because the heater doesn't turn off, ha.

Both my cars are black. The M3 has a black leather interiour, but it also has tinted windows which helps keep it cooler.

That has got to be the stupidest law they have thought od yet.
I have owned black cars as well as other colors and have never noticed a huge difference in comfort.

I wish they'd ban that dang dark tinting instead.  I take my cues of what a driver is going to do by their hands and their eyes.  With all that tinting I can't see what they are going to do (and heaven forbid they use signals correctly).  I think a lot of bicyclists are like me.

The reason for this law is to make the government officials stand out in their unimaginative ways. When the president goes to Arnifonia he will stand out and be susceptible to hippy terrorists armed with rocket propelled grenades. We've seen this happen before and we'll see it happen again (BSG/Peter Pan). Secret service IMHO should use different colour cars in a convoy thus it will not look like a convoy, didn't they learn anything about camouflage in the jungle of Nam?

P.S. My car is green, birds think it is a tree and so my roof is occasionally pelted with shit.

Pilot Pigeon: We've spotted a tree to land on.
Co Pilot pigeon that ain't no tree pull up pull up etc.

And holy crap do black cars show pollen... until it started pouring today my black truck was a very unattractive shade of green.

I really think they need to institute mandatory drug testing for CARB officials... cut this shit right out.

I wanted a black car...finally got one, drove it for 5 years, got over it, and now I'm back to blue.  You're right about the pollen, though.  Yellow powder alllll over it.

Slight coating of dust on the M3 and truck in the garage, 4 inches and counting of snow on the Prizm that is outside of the garage.

I am so sick of snow....

I have a triple black (paint, top & interior) 2002 Z28 convertible & I LOVE it. The seats get hot when the top is down when it's in the sun all day, but you can always put a towel down. It also has 1900 miles, so I don't drive it very often. But it looks great in the garage with the cover over it.
