noclue -> gift suggestions for my first collaring anniversary (3/30/2009 8:31:26 PM)

hello, i am a very happy and grateful collared poly switch.  i am very happy and emotional in that my one year collaring anniversary is less than a month ago .  and even happier to report that my wonderful Dom brought it up first!  it is a monday and He has to work that night. plus that following weekend we are attending a weekend event in our local community.

would very much appreciate gift suggestions for my wonderful Dom, who does not want me to spend any money.  thought of the usual - picture frames, make a cd, journal, but would be very interested to hear from other Doms what would touch their hearts.

thanks in advance for your time and help

For me the thing which would really touch my heart would be something one of mine made with her own hands. It could be something practicle or frivelous no matter it is the love, thought and aye even the blood, sweat and tears that went into it that would count for me.

Great idea.  My kids made me stuff 10 years ago that I still use today.  Pottery from one of my kids sits on my desk as we speak.

In a sense I agree with Iron Bear. For Me the gifts that mean most are the ones that are from the Heart. When the time is taken to put one's own thoughts into what would mean the most. It does not necessarilly have to be something I want or would like. It could be something the sub made that is apart of themself or what they see in Me as Master. Or it could be something they feel I need or what not. The point is I want to see the effort, true effort from the submissive that they WORKED on the gift rather than took the cheap route went out and swiped the Gold card on a silly trinket.

Paper is the tradition gift for a wedding anniversary. Paper would give you a lot of options. Think about paperchains, you could make a chain with 350 links in it, and write a little message inside each link.

Master's birthday is this friday, because we're in a long distance relationship i made him a card, it's not fancy and i'm not the world's best artist but it's the thought that counts. I'll be taking it with me to give to him when i visit in May. He does know i made him a card and that he'll get it in May and he's approved but he won't see it until then. He's also getting four other cards as well as four small posters some friends of mine made for him lol so he'll have a lot to look forward to.

well if you've got the inclination get a bunch of photo's with the two of you and anyone else in your poly family together and make a scrapbook, it's not hard and it is actually a lot of fun. Master enjoyed the one i gave him as a gift for us finally moving in together :) it's a great way to time line the year you've had together.

The greatest gift I have ever received from a sub was way back when I was in University and my sub detailed my car. I had been forced to put it off due to exams and work, so she came over one day while I was working washed it, waxed it, and made every surface shine (right down to taking q-tips to polish each blade of each air vent). Didn't cost anything (except time) but showed that she really understood me.

thank you all so much for your replies i did not expect so many so quickly! i love the idea of the paper chain, of making him something.  its just i see the chain being very long with so many links, perhaps just 12 for the year??

could make it like a streamer, each a different color to match the month ie red for feb, green for march etc.  and also thinking of what little project i could do for him, the car would be out (that is awesome how thorough she was cleaning it for you, thank you so much for sharing that).  the wheels are slowly moving.

very grateful for everyone's suggestion, i just love Him so much!

Going with the paper idea you could get a book from the library or do a web search for origami instructions.  maybe you could fold a little figure of your Dom's favorite animal?

I like the scrapbook idea.  Remember doing something similar while in college for a professor.  Had taken various pictures over the course of the class.  Picked the right pictures to illustrate a story.  I chose a spin off of Little Red Riding Hood.  So there were pictures and creative writing involved with the gift.
