I love Ayn Rand - I would go see this and not get really too bogged down in the symbolism v. current climate but 2 yrs notice??? seriously..

The book is 1,000 pages - that will be one very longggg movie.

so.. who plays John Galt?

Hmmmm...

Robin Williams...he is versatile enough and I thought he was very good in Bicentennial Man.

Quite an undertaking. I can't imagine being able to bring this off well in one show. Perhaps best done in something more like the old mini-series style. Though I recall those having not always been of particularly high quality.

There is already a Rand novel turned into movie - "The Fountainhead," with Gary Cooper.

I am sure it will resonate with a few but will likely be largely more capitalist propaganda...if it is portrayed as anecdote to our ficticious bent toward something called socialism.

Socialism is now the BIG buzz word of fear even though for those who bother to do their homework and put it all into perspective...we are not even close.

This keeps the great unwashed working to bailout the billionaires and believing somehow real socialism or even a few dabbs would be just terrible.

First critique would be how the movie protrays the govt. taking over the railroad retirement and medical benefits through the Railway Act, finally passing fed. court muster in 1937 as amended. A 'gift' to the investors or a slide toward socialism. I have a feeling I already know.

There's also the fed, the Glass-Steagall modifed by Graham-Leach-Bliley and what the fed is doing now. This film will need a whole lot of perspective or it could be 'The Grapes of Wrath' for the capitalist...but a lie.

I've seen Fountainhead several times! I love that movie - combines my favorite things: architecture, old movies and (indirectly) fashion. Patricia Neal has always been one of my favorite actresses.
