LaTigresse -> RE: Way to go Iowa (4/3/2009 11:59:24 AM)

The thing is that to me, until it becomes national, it really doesn't mean anything.

Take for instance the case between Janet Jenkins and Lisa Miller. Wed in Vermont, had a child, then split. In Vermont it was a joint custody case. But when Lisa Miller moved to Virginia, taking the child, she took shelter in Virginia's laws. Effectively denying Janet Jenkins visitation with her child.

As long as someone can move to another state that doesn't recognise all of the legal rights of the previous state, it really doesn't mean much. At least to me.

But, there is the view that it really does have to begin someplace.

True, but both have farm houses and corn fields and toronados. And little lap dogs too.

Ven,the little lap dogs aren't exactly indigenous to either state......their imports.

LaTigresse -> RE: Way to go Iowa (4/3/2009 1:18:44 PM)

Yeah, but a certain little dog I know would have kicked that witchy old neighbour's ass.

slvemike4u -> RE: Way to go Iowa (4/3/2009 1:36:11 PM)

Three cheers for Toto....hih,hip hooray!

Crush -> RE: Way to go Iowa (4/3/2009 2:00:09 PM)

Now, can someone who only loves him/herself marry him/herself?  (A narcissist's nuptials?)

popeye1250 -> RE: Way to go Iowa (4/3/2009 3:45:49 PM)

Like Rosie O'Dumbo said; "What? Gays getting married?
"My God, haven't those people suffered enough?"

aravain -> RE: Way to go Iowa (4/3/2009 4:14:18 PM)

~FR~

I'm happy, I'm proud...

I'm incredibly depressed.

This shouldn't *HAVE* to be a victory. This should be implicit already. *sighs and wanders off*

intenze -> RE: Way to go Iowa (4/3/2009 4:18:13 PM)

Yay Us! I knew Iowa was good for something besides corn and pigs and corn and pigs and RAGBRAI

You know what they say about the greatest journey, LaT.  It all starts with the first step.  (OK.  Iowa is technically the third step, but it's still good.)

Congratulations Iowa!

windchymes -> RE: Way to go Iowa (4/4/2009 9:46:55 AM)

Now I know I've been on CM waaaaaayyyyyy too long.  When I saw that story on the news, the first thing that popped into my head was LaT and subtee!  Seriously!  [sm=applause.gif]

xBullx -> RE: Way to go Iowa (4/4/2009 9:54:11 AM)

I certainly have no objections....

I'm curious as to when it is going to be ok for me to legally have more than one female (or someone to have more than one male) as a dependent and so forth. And I sure am not implying marri.....mar, mmmmmmmmmmmm, uhmmm,  oh whatever that word is....

I wonder if LaT is going to envite an old Gorean to her ceremony..[;)]
