Your point is what? Lam is smarter?

First They Came for the Jews

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

Seeing as how you and Lam BOTH missed the actual point, I do believe that it is not a case of either one of you being smart.

Edit: By the way, once again, nobody ever came for the Communists. They self-destructed. And last I looked, unionism is alive and well.

MntnWolf -> RE: NCSF Supports Google's Refusal to Violate Internet Privacy (2/3/2006 9:28:31 PM)

Actually, they did come for communists. They did it in America and it was done in the fifties. I think it was called McCarthyism and it was basicly a witch-hunt for suspected communists. Anyone could be brought up in court as a suspect.

Laughing...yeah...I made you ADMIT that you're not going to lift a finger to defend what you believe in. You'd rather just sit in your chair and berate other people who do. Sounds like I'm not the one who missed the point.

The world is filled with people who accept injustice. But instead of admitting that they're too afraid to do anything about it, they concoct lofty rationalizations and deride people who try to make the world a better place for THEM.

It is not reallly power.. It is a voice.. You either have one or you do not. Marching in here with a press release saying "We support such and such"... Well... That is nice...but.

It is not that I do not admire their efforts. They are standing up for what they think is right. That is not what matters to Me in My current train of thought.. Sure.. Go ring a bell on the street corner and get it out of your system.

What matters to Me is "what are you going to do about it?" and "how are you going to go about doing it?" and lastly "does anyone listen besides the people that have no say". That is why we have huge lobbies. They are big enough and have a loud enough voice to get something done. I do not see the same thing happening here.

Why don't you do a little research about the organization and the issue instead of making these posts and sounding extremely ignorant?

"Marching in here with a press release.." ?

You seem to be proud of making all kinds of rants and cases and then asking people "Well you tell me why I should know about this organization I'm saying can't do crap." Do you like advertising that you stir up shit about things you know nothing about?

I don't know anyone who actually buys that "Child Online Protection Act" garbage. Its a pathetic attempt at a moral disguise for what they're really after. Muslim radicals and anti-american sentiment. This is about the government trying to out Muslims just like they did with socialists and communists in the '50's and '60's.

Since the government can't create a registry for Muslims (as they tried with African Americans during the civil rights movement) or concentration camps like we did for Germans, Japanese and Italians during WWII, they're trying to go through the legal back door by using Google as a way to gain that vital personal information. Especially since they got busted with their illegal wiretapping scheme.

No, you did not make Me admit anything of the sort. That is the funny part. You THINK you know what you are talking about, when in actuality you do not have a clue. I do not support Google's position. That was partly the point. I am in support of the government collecting the random samples, provided no personally identifiable information is included. If you were paying attention, instead of trying in vain to make a point that did not even exist, you would have figured that out.

Further to this, the main gyst of My point is that if you are going to trumpet your own horn that you ARE in fact in support of Google's position, what can you do about it and what are you going to do about it? Strangely the key information was lacking in that "press release" that was completely devoid of any real substance and really was only a clever little marketting tool. One of My other points.

As you can see, you missed the boat, as did several others here that think they are so smart. And I mean you REALLY missed the boat.

OK I am not going to jump on the bash people's political views bandwagon, but I have to say I don't agree with the Child Protection Act only on the basis that it won't protect the children as well as they say it does. We had a girl kidnapped and murdered in Arkansas last year by a guy she met online. Where was the protection for her? I don't think that the government has any right to eavesdrop on anything in our lives and I am far from a Republican, so I happen to disagree with a lot of things in our government, but I will support my country. And for the person that mentioned the 9/11 attack, you know there was a bombing in OKC and hundreds of people were killed by one of our own, I cried when I saw the remains of the federal building as much as I cried when I saw Ground Zero last year. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but some should try to learn to respect other opinions.

NeedToUseYou -> RE: NCSF Supports Google's Refusal to Violate Internet Privacy (2/4/2006 6:20:10 PM)

Well, I do think the governments request for Googles records is bullshit. But really it doesn't matter much, if you know a little about computers you can disguise your IP address and they'll just have a bunch of garbage data with fake IP's. Really that is all that will happen. Like this companies stock will go up for example http://anonymize.net/. Basicly you send a request to there server, it then fetches it with a completely different IP address then sends it back. They don't log IP's so there is no trail back to you. That company was just the first that popped up in my search. It's just stupid really. And believe me all the organized terrorists and criminals already use such a thing. It's been around since the internet was born pretty much. So, joe blow child molester spends his whole day on the computer trying to find little girls would just subscribe to that. Or paranoid revolutionary guy, if he's not a complete dumbass would use an anomymous IP. Really, I think this whole thing is about retarded. The government will only find the absolutely most stupid criminals. But as far as getting the sophicated ones that basicly live on the computer, highly highly doubtful.
So, let's say it is legal for them to get googles records, well everyone doing illegal things will just get a similiar service, and no more useful data.

As far as china goes, Well google doesn't really have any say whatsoever. It's either chinas rules or no business in china. Because China filters it's internet traffic at backbone level. So, if Google says fuck off china. China would just block all there traffic completely. And I'm of the viewpoint some data is better than no data. It's all or nothing in China

And as far as the phone taps, well I have no problem with that. So, let's say they listen on your phone call. A huge waste of money I'd say. But, what would they find, you like to kinky sex, oh wow, who cares. Or you think bush is a nut job, again who cares, millions of people do. It's not like they are listening to every phone call, or even want to, they have the ability, and have had that ability for some time. No, sorry, I can't see any other point than getting criminals. Seeing I'm not a terrorist or criminal, I don't really care to licks.

Thanks

Joe Hill was a Swedish-American labor activist and member of the Industrial Workers of the World, better known as the Wobblies. He was executed for murder after a controversial trial, and after his death became the subject of a folksong.

I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night,
Alive as you and me.
Says I "But Joe, you're ten years dead"
"I never died" said he,
"I never died" said he.
"In Salt Lake, Joe," says I to him,
him standing by my bed,
"They framed you on a murder charge,"
Says Joe, "But I ain't dead,"
Says Joe, "But I ain't dead."
"The Copper Bosses killed you Joe,
they shot you Joe" says I.
"Takes more than guns to kill a man"
Says Joe "I didn't die"
Says Joe "I didn't die"
And standing there as big as life
and smiling with his eyes.
Says Joe "What they can never kill
went on to organize,
went on to organize"
From San Diego up to Maine,
in every mine and mill,
where working-men defend their rights,
it's there you find Joe Hill,
it's there you find Joe Hill!
I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night,
alive as you and me.
Says I "But Joe, you're ten years dead"
"I never died" said he,
"I never died" said he.

Paul Robeson and Pete Seeger often performed this song and are associated with it, along with renowned Irish folk group The Dubliners. Their version, scored by Phil Coulter and sung by Luke Kelly, offers a stirring mix of Coulter's simple piano accompanient and Kelly's gravelly voice. Joan Baez's Woodstock performance of "Joe Hill" in 1969 is the most well-known recording. My daddy taught me the song. LOL.

I know what you asked. And basically you are saying that I can not have an opinion about this meaningless special interest group because the position I have taken does not REQUIRE that I take any action. The government is doing it whether you like it or not, and I approve. That is the point you missed because you are focused on some imaginary diversion.

For the last time, because you do not seem to have much of a clue. My position requires no action on My part. The NCSF position does. Instead of coming in here marketting their interests, I am asking them what they intend to do about it and if anyone listens to them. If noone else listens to them, why should I? Not so strangely enough we still have yet to hear an action plan.

Get a clue.
