kidwithknife, that was a very interesting critique and you made some very valid points.  Not much in this world is perfect, and neither is RACK or SSC.  But their imperfection does not detract from the fact that they are (to date) the best decision making and risk mitigation processes we have.

Please don't think that my article was a defense of, or endorsement for, either of them.  In stating that I make the personal choice to use SSC, I was merely providing context and providing full disclosure for honesty's sake.  But for the most part, it was my intention to provide a reasonably thorough overview of both procedures.

In the end, I hope I made it very clear that people should decide for themselves.

G'morning all:

Having skimmed through three pages of patter has made my eyes cross. Seriously OP, there's not one safe or sane thing done in this lifestyle. Ever. People like to attach labels to WIITWD to feel more accepted, whether in the vanilla world or in the lifestyle community.

Frankly, I don't need, want or seek out anyone's acceptance of my proclivities. I don't have to rationalize my activities by slapping catchy phrases on them. I'm comfortable enough in my skin to accept the gravity of what I do and whatever consequences it may bring. I use common sense, care, and responsibility in my scenes so as not to do permanent damage to anyone I interact with. Especially since I have a heavy hand; it's a necessity, not a preference.

Most people like to feel that they're part of a clique. SSC and RACK gives them that exclusivity sensation. It's been my experience that people stand on their soapboxes and rail against each other from their respective stances. [8|] Who needs that?

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

I see the difference well differently. I think SSC is unattainable, what is safe? not many people would consider much of what we do inherantly safe, many wouldnt consider wanting to do it particularly sane.

Actually, I had only stated my opion on the difference between SSC and RACK, I haven't said a word about their respective attainability. I don't think SSC can be attained. I don't think I would want to attain it, for the reasons you mention.

Rack makes more sense, it is going into the situation with your eyes open, it means being aware that the activities you get involved in may not be 'safe' but with that knowledge doing it anyways.

That basically hinges on your definition of Risk Aware. I used to be quite a RACK-proponent, but lately I'm starting to have my doubts about the attainability of RACK just as well. Yes, it feasible to know that there are risks, but I doubt if it is possible to aware of them all.

So where does that leave me? Personally, I think it should all be C.
