I am new to being a domme and would like to know if its legal in Georgia or considered abuse

If you're talking about play, I'd have to say no. Even with consent, you can't legally beat someone.

Hello and welcome to the boards... I don't know specifically what you are asking, so I'll give a few insights that (I believe) work in ALL 50 states. It is not illegal to have a dominant personality. It is not illegal to take the controlling role within a relationship, whether it is for ten minutes or fifty years - so long as the other party CONSENTS to yielding control. It is not illegal to make financial, emotional, or social decisions within that relationship. It is not illegal to label yourself a Domme/Mistress/Goddess, etc, nor is it illegal to label your consensual partner sub/slave/dog/pet, etc. It is impossible to enforce that label legally because true slavery where consent is removed from the equation is illegal. If you want to have LEGAL control of your partner, you can easily accomplish it through power of attorney, living wills, and in some carefully constructed cases, guardianship. Once again though, you should proceed very carefully and with sound legal advice for both you and your partner. In cases of play, some of what we do is illegal. A person cannot legally consent to their own assault in the eyes of the law. In some jurisdictions anal sex is still illegal (technically). The idea is to play ONLY with people who are interested in flying under the radar AND making very sure that you perform any play activity as safely as possible to avoid Emergency room visits and cops knocking at your door. (Cops knocked at My door once after a session where my slave was moaning loudly - we had a prearranged story for them - that he was prone to night terrors and I was "comforting him, not hurting him". LOL) The best thing I can recommend is to find a BDSM activity checklist and fill it out, once you do that, ask yourself if this particular activity is illegal or not. If it is, consider your risk. Remember though, you are responsible to keep yourself safe, as well as anyone you play with. Control is key.

Georgia state law stipulates that the following activity is illegal: "'Sadomasochistic abuse' means flagellation or torture by or upon a person who is nude or clad in undergarments or in revealing or bizarre costume or the condition of being fettered, bound or otherwise physically restrained on the part of one so clothed." That said, the law hasn't deterred dozens of Pro Dommes in Georgia from openly practicing their profession.

One man's version of abuse is another man's version of fun. How does anyone draw the line? Its impossible. If the person consented to it to me, it should not be interfered with. The problem is if one partner oversteps the mark. But thats open to interpretation as well kevin

Sports are voluntary activities. So are sexual acts. The state has no right to ever legislate what goes on between consenting adults.

So, I guess in Georgia you can't beat someone, but you could put them in cages, put them on a leash, step on them, or do anything else you want as long as you don't beat themor torture them...How do they define torture? How do they go about enforcing this worthwhile law? I wonder who thought this one up and what brought it about. Usually if a law is passed it is because someone was taken advantage of and so they pass a law to stop that. I wonder if there are similar laws in other states.

I know they do. That is why we have to fight for our rights, and fight hard. We need to be organized, unapologetic, and unafraid. You think gay people and black people were just handed their rights? Did women's suffrage just happen? Politicians will always try to overstep their bounds. The hypocrites. We must demand our rights. A good start is by pointing out the absurdity and inconsistencies in such ridiculous statutes.
