I like to write - short stories mostly - of both the BDSM and non-BDSM variety.  My biggest problem is not starting what I finish.  I re-read my work so many times that I get bored with it.  I'm not much on poetry but I do write the occasional Haiku now and then.  I find them challenging.  It would be nice if Collarme had a section for posting fiction ( i would love to know what some of the people around here thought of my work) but given the length a story can go (my longest - unfinnished - is already thrity two pages long) I can see how this would be a problem.  I know there are websites out there for posting BDSM fiction but since most of the stories there are disater areas of bad grammer and spelling, I stay away.

I do write as part of my profession (advertising and publicity for an art center), mostly press releases and ad copy.  Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's boring, sometimes it's challenging, sometimes it routine.  That's work for you.

I do our add copy here.

Lots and lots of stuff scattered about the house that I've written for my own personal amusement. My brain works allllll the time. I create stories that I build while I am doing menial tasks. Sometimes days, weeks, months even on the same story line. If I have time I outline them. Occasionally start fleshing the outlines, but I tend to get bored with the typing/writing process. My fingers don't work nearly as fast as my brain. Then I end up moving on to a new story line.

It's all for my own amusement. While the stories are good, they will likely never get seen or read because I just haven't the patience to share them.

Songs...filk and Celtic. I can usually complete those within a week. I lack the discipline to write a novel, but have attempted a novella-with some success. Songs tend to write themselves with the melody coming first, then the words. Poems are easy  for me and flow off the tongue.

Trying to read books on how to write to improve one's writing is as thrilling as watching an egg fry...zzzz. I've attended panel workshops on it at Norwescon (which hosts the Philip K.Dick awards) and that seems to engage the mind much further.

Any suggestions for a horror and/or sci-fi theme? Writing fiction with another person seems to work better for me, as it keeps the creative juices flowing, as well as you have to keep a commitment to another person. I'm up to it- if that is anyone's genre. Getting it published would be a milestone, but not the "be-all, end-all." Anyone interested in that, please contact me.
