Here’s a simple straight forward question. No hidden agenda in asking, just curious.

I don’t really care but what is the point, the deal with PICS of equipment?  Geez if I had to take a PIC of all My equipment I’d run out of room here.

Is a PIC of a couple of floggers and dildos and handcuffs supposed to get a sub drooling for contact with the poster?  Is this coming from the same place as look at My hot car, the size of My wallet?

To My thinking it still comes down to that equipment between Ones ears.

It’ not the talk, not the walk not even the acts but rather if One has gotten beyond vanilla thinking that is the deeper Domination.

Oh well, if I have time I guess I’ll take a PIC of My sponge, step ladder, hard boiled eggs, plastic raincoat and water bottle and see if it gets My any where.

On topic, I dont get it either, but then I find much of the equipment fairly ugly, and the pictures less than wonderful. But im guessing its to do with the whole 'look im a proper real dom ive got all this stuff'

When I see pics of equipment it's a huge turnoff. It tells me he's more interested in playing than in a relationship.

I just want to see a normal pic of him and no one or nothing else...just him in a normal pose, in normal clothing. I want to see the authentic self...not some persona.

Here's a brief description of a  pic i saw recently:

The "equipment" pictured was a 3 pack of Durex, a novelty store pink vinyl "paddle", i think maybe a foot-long piece of rope, and some novelty furry cuffs....and He went on about being an experienced Master/ Daddy Dom.[8|]

When I get things organized, I'll add pictures of my dungeon to the Bruin Cottage Home page along with several pictures of my floggers but those are more for advertising for those who want me to make them floggers or other equipment. I do like to see pics of equipment being used though. Still there will be pics of the home and Ndeets and I just being ourselves as well as the dogs. Like everything else there is a place for equipment pics but as is obvious, such things are just not everyones' cup of tea..

i can think of a lot of good reasons to have pictures of equipment on this site;
One might have made the equipment..
or a cool means of storage for the equipment...
or they just enjoy taking pictures of everything that's a part of their life...

No, seeing these pictures don't do anything for me sexually.
Still, i don't think there's anything wrong with them either.

I can understand someone with a well-appointed dungeon posting photos on their profile to brag...'cause, hey, they've got a well -appointed dungeon. Posting a few toys spread out on a bed at least shows that they've thought enough about the lifestyle to buy a few toys to go along with it. I suppose I can see the point to an extent, but I much prefer photos of an evil looking dom brandishing a choice implement instead.

Personally.. I enjoy seeing a normal person.  The equipement pics get passed by faster then on can say.. oh jeeze.  The person that really appeals to me can carry a conversation and has no need to boast or brag about what is in their closet (or pants).  Get real, be real.  The problem that I think comes into play here, is that a lot of people are just not.. real.. the version that you see on collarme is not the real person.  And whether they do it knowingly or not, they are hiding for whatever reason.

Good evening!
Unless it's a secondary pic or one that is grouped in with "Browse Photos", it is a major turnoff. Yeah it makes me think he's too into toys and not the day to day D/s dynamic. As someone who cannot be used too roughly during sexual scenes, it scares the life out of me. Secondly, it makes me think that this Dom/me might be too experienced or too extreme to ever be interested in me or willing to have the patience with me learning. That alone would keep me from contacting that person or even replying to a mail. Luckily, Daddy only had a few things when we met....but thanks to my big mouthed suggestions of what interests me....his bag has gotten much bigger. Yikes.

BadOne, I haven't gotten my pic yet and am feeling left out. 
There are a lot of implement pics in profiles.  I generally think, "I've got better stuff than that" or "Really?!  That's the best you have to offer?!"  I suppose it could be kind of like someone showing pics of their car/motorcycle in vanilla situations (Though tons of folks on here do it too).  Again, I think it's posturing and I often think "Mine's cooler than yours", lol!  I'd rather see a dick pic than a car photo or an impplementphoto, assuming it's attached to the person posting: at least that's real. 
As others have said, if I'm looking at a person's pic, I find real person pics far more interesting than implement pics. 
I don't post pics on my profile 'cause I'm rather paranoid about my privacy and such.

You really send out pictures of your brain scan?

People want to have some kind of picture up, this is a BDSM site, so they put up pics of BDSM equipment. If it were a paintball site, they would have pics of their paintball guns up.

Is it highly imaginative? Certainly not. But neither is just using one of the available avatars, and on this I speak from experience. However it is as acceptable a pic as anything else.

What does your pic have to do with our common interest?

I think those photos are silly. Anyone can go out and buy, then display stuff. Doesn't mean they know how to use it or are someone I want to know.

Then again I think photos of cool cars and motorcycles are equally silly. "Oh look at me, aren't I a superstud/ette because I have a corvette/harley/whatthefuckever!!"

I just laugh and move on.

(then again my riding photo could be similarly construed when I thought I was just providing a full body shot...........hmmmm)

LaT.. I dont see your riding pic in the same category as the equipment pics at all... to me, not only is it  a full body pic, but it also shows another interest (and skill!!  not everyone can ride!!)

The pics of someone with their car or bike can also depict the same kind of thing to me.

Owning a horse requires daily responsibility, so it says something about your character that owning a horsehair flogger does not.

Posting such pics might be an attempt to inspire "omg I wonder how that would feel" tingling that new subs sometimes get when they see lots of toys displayed in real.  It's a way of saying, "Pick me, because I can do all these terrible delicious things to you."

You're probably right, but then - hey, this is a BDSM place. And I don't know that you can surmise that much from pictures one chooses. I have pics of my playroom up, for two reasons:

- I have one, so you'll note I am serious about this stuff
- I am not interested in a relationship that does not involve BDSM

And then you have to get to the meaning of "interested". I have long since learned that relationships happen with people one meets and gets to know. Playing is a good way (says I) to meet like minded women, and who knows one of those women may end up being perfect for a relationship. IOW - I don't think places like CM is where you go to get a relationship. It is a place you go to get to know, and meet, other people. Relationships happen all by themselves, in my experience, I don't believe one goes out looking for one.
