So I'm a cheap college student. I bought this plastic shelf thing to hold some books. You know the kind you might put in your garage. So it is held together with plastic poles. Well I put it together and the stupid thing falls apart.. am I doing something wrong? or did being cheap end up not being such a good idea? The picture shows these stupid plastic shelves holding lots of heavy things.. lol.. I was thinking super glue? any tips?

,,, and yep I used a hammer
... and although my dad means well I don't want to use duck tape... lol

Being thrifty isn't a bad thing. Being cheap is. The most expensive item isn't always the best thing either. I know that this might be a silly question but did you read the directions on how to put it together?

Having put together over 100 pieces of furniture in My life and as many shelves---I have come to realize that the weight limits should be cut in half and never put books on plastic shelves----sorry---

FelinePersuasion -> RE: cheap (1/29/2006 2:18:37 PM)

Those plastic shelving things will eventually bend and ruin under weight, we have plastic packars and even like barely 5 pounds of weight is enough to cause the top of the case to sag.

A far better thing would to find some wooden boards and some concrete blocks and stack them up. Makes a sturdy shelf pronto and no instructions needed, There's a group called freecycle.org that can help too, you ask for things and if someone has something you need they'll contact you, now the only downside is you do have to go get the item, but it's worth it in my mind.

Thanks everyone.. and they didnt come with instuctions because its easy to see how they go together.. lol oh well I guess my books will stay stacked on my floor.. thanks again.

In the immortal words of someone very wise (me), duct tape fixes everything. It even held the oil pan and muffler in place on my first car. Stopped up the leaks, too. I even used to have a pair of duct tape sandals. [:D]

LOL my father lived by the rule of duct tape. If it could not be taped...throw it away. I swear he had stock in the company

Take on a Dominant side and have your subbie hold it forever!
Or, atleast until you say, "I'm tired of you, dismissed, your work here is done."

Duct tape is for Ducks.....hmmm, I do love binding them feathery creatures up....AFLAK, my Ass!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no backing out now

lets see
/gets all excited thinking about this

I have had duct tape in the obvious places....mouth, hands, ankles, inside of thighs ( FUCKING OUCH [:D][:D] ), on the ass, across the lips of the vagina ( MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Pull it off FAST )

I think the worse experience with duct tape was after I got a tatt on my leg...my husband taped it...and then pulled it off...while the tatt was still fresh....

yes, I cried

OUCH! That hurt my brain just to think about that.

By the way, there's this neat little book that my public library carries. It's a how-to manual for making things out of duct tape. It's pretty neat. It even tells how to make clothes. I'm thinking of making myself a duct tape suit for job interviews.

champagnewishes -> RE: cheap (1/29/2006 9:39:33 PM)

Duct tape....I LOVE DUCT TAPE! The all purpose solution to most everything. I now order it from a wholesaler....in addition to the typical 2" that the stores carry, you can get 3" and 4" widths...not to mention the better selection of colors...[:D]
