Many of the "transgender" types in SF are gay guys trying to get laid, but don't meet the "hunk" standards of the SF gay community.

Nice effin stereotype, are you sure it's not a loser breeder type?

Knowing many people who are TG and some I count as close friends and part of my non biological family, Each have their personal preference in how the want to be referred to. Some prefer TG, some prefer intersexed, some even prefer to be known as a shemale. What I found is to give acceptance to each one individually and avoids this needless issue of; are they this or are they this?

MidnightKat......just so you know, my usage of certain derogatory terms is done to make a point in a not so delicate way for people who choose to use derogatory terms against the LGBT community. So my earlier comment was not aimed at yourself!  [:)]

She puts up her hand.
Really I was always just a submissive woman. The trans thing was very interesting, and taught me a lot about life. Unfortunately, people can be often judgemental, and confused by things they do not understand.
People who are truly transsexual are essentially born with the wrong body. This is sort of sad, but if you realize it early and intervene, it doesn't have to be so bad. Unfortunately, the more time that proceeds after puberty, the less of a chance you have of truly looking like an attractive member of your proper gender and having a good life. In a lot of ways I was lucky. I took hormones very very early on - this really helped. It cost me a lot , but was worth it .
I transitioned societal 'roles' at age 21 - ie , i've lived as a woman since i was 21. I have ALWAYS had a soft and gentle soul, ever since birth - i was a geeky kid growing up, who was highly adverse to violence. I've had a boyfriend, and been a housewife. Now I'm working on building myself a career.
I look back.
Submissiveness and being female are different. Being female to me is simply about base essence - an essential quality of soul that defines how you see the universe beyond sexuality. Being submissive is something that gets added onto that, and interacts with it in wonderful ways. I've lived in suburbia before, but right now i'm living downtown semi in the queer community. They are building many condos and the area is slowly becoming yuppified. I go out, and find a younger sister in the park near our community centre. I wonder if she is being unfortunately forced to work as a sex worker, because so many people discriminate against trans who are young or non-white. She keeps court with the other people in the park, a beautiful princess watching over the souls of the injured in this world talking with the others, guiding the down -and out with her internal soul's light. She is beautiful, dressed in a simple, short black off the shoulders dress and silver sandals. The true beauty is her spirit - her instinctual poise , born of a soul that innately knows it is female. I hope she is one of the ones who makes it. I remember to believe in the Goddess - the original fire of purpose that sent me here. If submissives are the souls of ressurected martyrs, then perhaps, so are transsexuals.

Its a person who when she/he decides to change will keep her/his most true friend (2) and lose all the loser friends in his/her life inwhich she rather have the 80 friends who she use to hang out with. I am one of those friends who are truely a good friend.

Well, if a transsexual friend would come to visit me I would prefer to lock my wardrobe well....simply because he is likely to like some of my dresses and even worse HE might fit into them...where I do struggle at the moment [&o]

Lol - trannies coming to steal your wardrobe. Cisgender women beware!

Make note to starve self post orchidectomy. While still do not gain weight like genetic women , metabolism has slowed slightly. Make note to tease GG's about metabolism

Genuinely: Frank n Furter

As far as the poll goes, I don't. They're just people.

LadyEllen -> RE: What do you think of when hear the term transsexual? (5/25/2009 4:15:44 PM)

There really aint much hope, is there?

Good thing most of us are invisible all in all - but then thats why all these dumb stereotypes are being mentioned; few at best of them having any actual relevance but to support negative views that fill the vacuum produced by the invisibility we adopt to avoid getting harassed, beaten up and killed because of those negative views.

Fitznicely -> RE: What do you think of when hear the term transsexual? (5/25/2009 4:37:40 PM)

I happen to be a big fan of RHPS, so there's a whole raft of keywords that'll make me think of the Show first:

Transsexual
Transylvania
Asshole
Slut

Etc etc.

As far as the serious matter of the negative attitudes to transgendered...I simply don't subscribe to that viewpoint. We all live the lives we need to live. It's not invisibility so much as it's really none of my business.

This will not be the most PC answer, BUT it is true. I hear or read, transsexual, I usually lump it with transgender because my life has been pretty boring. Not a lot of variety in people in my corner of the world. So, I don't really have a constant point of reference to differenciate between the two. Pathetic I am sure.

Once we get past that, I am aware that there are people that wish to remain the gender their bodies were born as but like to dress as the other gender. Then I am aware that there are people that feel they were born with the wrong body. Neither one is something I can imagine but then I get to dress in male attire whenever I want without any shit. I don't even see it as dressing as a male. Just more comfortable.

As far as a person feeling they were born in the wrong body, my heart goes out to the people that have to deal with that. I cannot even begin to imagine the complexities of their life and wouldn't even try to suggest I could. I mean I can try to imagine it, but I doubt it isn't even close to their reality. Aside from the empathy I feel for those challenges, I don't really think much more about it.

Forgive me if any of that made absolutely zero sense. I am working on a bottle of wine that went fabulously with a grilled, rare, t-bone steak.
