Okay, it's another religious time of the year.  You got your Easter, you got your Passover, and you got those who don't give a hoot about them.  You have people waking you up wanting to spread the word.  You got notions of spreading the legs of someone hot who woke you up wanting to spread the word.

So, how do you react?  What do you say?  Are you cordial?  If you're a non-believer, do you just brush it aside, or do you explain your beliefs or point of view?

With that said, Happy Easter.

Where I work, there are 6 people in my department.  5 are Christian, one is Agnostic.  It's been a longtime "thing" for us to wish the Agnostic a wonderful (long) weekend, for the holidays that are faith-based, and the rest of us to wish each other a "Happy Xday".  That way, nobody is offended.  And, for certain holidays it has given opportunity to learn about other religion's holidays.  Mostly holidays that are Pagan, Wiccan, or Druid of nature.

edited to add...

And  a Happy Easter to you as well, shivermetimbers.

i am too laid back to worry about stuff like this. It is Easter. It is a fact. I do not care what religion you are, today is Easter. You may not celebrate it, but that does not change the fact that it is Easter.

If i wish someone a happy Easter and it offends them...too bad.

If they say it to Me, I'm going to wish them a happy Easter back.  If it wasn't worth mentioning to them, they wouldn't have said it in the first place.  In My life, I've met a lot of non-Christians who still color Easter eggs for their kids or put up Christmas trees.

Besides, who could argue about a cute, furry bunny who brings chocolate?

The choice provided are highly US centric it seems; for we Brits there's no option provided for "stare at them wondering if theyre joking - or if they really are a churchy", and for the younger amongst us "what's Easter?"

I'm Jewish.

"Happy Easter" has become almost a secular greeting this time of year.  Doesn't offend me at all.

Frankly, anyone who gets offended by something of this magnitude needs to have some REAL issues in their life!

I work retail, most of the people saying it to me even before I converted myself were in shopping for Easter and said it after I had rung up their purchases. I view it as an almost automatic response around that time of year, on par with "Thanks" and "Have a great day."

Am I really the only person that just celebrates it as a holiday? Heck I never think about all those festivals from a religious point of view.
Easter = the time of year that you eat chocolate in excessive amounts
Xmas = the time of year that you eat something reaaaaaally really good and well give your friends/family present n smoochies everybody etc. ..not to forget all the lights and the xmassy stuff n n n n n last but not least SANTA CLAUS
New Years = the night you get drunk and/or shoot fireworks and smoochies everybody
Thanksgiving = the day you eat turkey and have a cozy time with your family/friends

I try not to dismiss that which brings comfort and joy to the heart of another.

As long as I can have my pets gone wild moments at the Annual Peeps Show.

I dislike all of the federally sanctioned religious holidays.  I don't celebrate any of them and haven't since I was considerably younger.  Basically, I quit celebrating the various religious holidays when I got old enough that my family quit trying to force feed them to me.

It's a blatant disregard of the seperation of church and state and the commercialism is nauseating which surrounds all of the various religious holidays (and the non-religious ones as well, for that matter.)  Although I have to admit, it usually gives me a chuckle to return "happy easter" wishes from someone with "A blessed festival of Oestra to you, as well."  The looks of confusion or disdain/disgust/shock are amusing.

Sounds almost like the reaction I'll get when I wish someone a happy bunny day!

If I remember correctly I said something like.........."You too!! Have a good weekend!"

Easter is nothing to me. I recognise it's a fun little excuse for plastic crap and chocolate for some, for others it is some sort of affirmation of their religious beliefs. That's all cool, whatever floats their boat.

Just doesn't mean anything to me. Except I just realized that I probably shouldn't waste my time driving into town to buy fresh mulch today........

Well of course but if one is not christian, today is just another Sunday. Even some christians have doubts about the history of Easter.

Otherwise, I do believe it does serve as a day when people do get along better but like most religious holidays...the celebration is for the children.

Day after day after day people are complaining so much stress so much to do so blahblahblahblahblah and over weekends everybody is usually like crazy out and about finishing this and that and this and that going to all the  malls and all the shops to get everything they're missing before new workweek starts. I mean no wonder people have high blood pressure are having heartattacks and I do not know what!!
Isn't it then just GREAT to have a day..where evrerything is closed (at least it is where I am) and instead of stop cursing the mothafuckin christian pigs out.. just..take a deep breath and just RELAX what's so friggin bad about just having a day where there's a special emphasis on taking it easy.
Might think people get offended that there actually are a few days during the year where you're supposed to chill relax and have a good time.

I'm gonna go to spain and curse all the mothafuckin siesta's out because they dare closing the shops between..what was it .. noon and 3pm

Being brought up Christian but not following the religion religiously, I will usually say, "Same to you" or something. As long as someone doesn't get all preachy on it, I will wish them the same and move on. I celebrated the religious times as a celebration, not as a religious thing.

I was just never forced to accept it as it was, so I am indifferent on the whole subject

Most folks do not know that I am an ordained rev (Subgenius AND Universal Life!) and a heathen.  No big deal.  If they say Happy Easter, Merry Xmas, whatever,  I say Thanks, you too.  If I know someone is of another religion, I might wish them a pleasant holiday of their own.  I just don't have it in me to be offended if someone offers me a happy, a blessed, a peaceful, a whatever that is a nice thing.  I just spread the happy thoughts.

I say Happy Easter back.  It's my holiday and it's obviously their holiday.  If somebody honestly gets offended because I wish them a happy holiday, then they really need to step back and reevaluate their life.  If somebody wishes me happy "insert non-Christian holiday here", I'd say thank you and I'd really mean it.  I wouldn't get all offended, nor would I act like a jackass and try to minimize their holiday by trying to prove how "intellectual" and "cultured" I am.

I guess I'm still one of the few who still celebrates Easter and all the other Christian holidays as a religious day.

I grew up around religion. For the most part I still try to hold onto my family customs and traditions. I will remember the reason for the day and I will do my best to observe those days.

When someone wishes me a Happy Easter I usually thank them and wish them a Happy Easter as well.
