Religion:
Definition of a God/Deity - an imaginary friend for adults.

Religious war - two parties fighting over who has the best imaginary friend.

(Sorry for this...)
He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!!

This I do agree since he spent most of his adult life living and wandering around 12 other men. Hmmmmm......does make you wonder....

Sounds a lot like wishful thinking.  But, you never know!  [;)]

Well the thing is, everything is all pure speculation. Unless some actually invents a time machine so we can go back into history and see for ourselves what actually took palce and separate that from the fiction.

slvemike4u -> RE: Religion (4/12/2009 10:30:47 AM)

Or Bear one could have faith....or not.Actually not that difficult a question,either beleive or don't.

YoursMistress -> RE: Religion (4/12/2009 10:39:41 AM)

I kind of like the idea of going back in a time machine.  But I'd feel so guilty for not trying to do something about the crucifixion.  And I suppose if I did, I would just end up dead there.  Hmm..., St. yours.  I guess my mom would be proud of me then.  [;)]

What I like most about the bible is the page that was torn from the very first, original copy.  I believe it read something along the lines of:

Any resemblance to characters, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

YoursMistress -> RE: Religion (4/12/2009 12:32:09 PM)

Make sure that you stay for the credits, and find out who wrote it, FourQ. [;)]

Your conversation with ST.Peter should be an interesting ,albeit short one.
Good luck with that.

FourQ -> RE: Religion (4/12/2009 1:33:00 PM)

You don't get it Mike, St. Peter would therefore be fictional also as it's based on a fictional book.[;)]

slvemike4u -> RE: Religion (4/12/2009 1:34:53 PM)

You don't get it fourq,what if your wrong?

FourQ -> RE: Religion (4/12/2009 1:42:09 PM)

You're not a bible basher are you?

Don't get me wrong, to believe that we're the highest evolved being in existence is purely egotistical and anyone who knows me will tell you that I have no ego.
One thing I don't believe, however, is that the afterlife is filled with harp playing angels and a divine entity who claims to have created us all.  If, and it's a big if, something has created us which is hugely unlikely it's almost impossible to conceive that we'd be allowed to know about it.

I live my life on a karma basis rather than belief in a specific god.  I try to do right, I live my life in a Christian way but don't believe that an omnipotent immortal created life and sent his son to save us.
Hell, the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy is more plausible than the bible!

slvemike4u -> RE: Religion (4/12/2009 2:04:15 PM)

No ,not a bible basher in the least....haven't seen the inside of a church in years.
But...and this is a big but,I don't beleive in burning my bridges either....tweaking God's nose(if God does exist) on one of his high holy days seems to be courting disaster....
But have at it if you like....I would ride that bike with some caution for a couple of days if I were you though.

Jesus, please protect me from your followers!

That bike was sold a month or so ago but I can still ride it if I wanted.

If God does exist then she knows that anything I do that appears disrespectful is done out of mirth.
By your thinking, God gave me a twisted sense of humour, and she's probably laughing herself silly.

Yes - she.  If God does exist it, and gendered, it would have to be a female.  A male with that much power and wisdom would never put the bollocks on the outside of the body!

slvemike, yes I do have faith though my faith is based upon another set of tenets then the vast majority. I look at my previous comment with a bit of humor and with a bit of skepticism. I also look at the good book as a compilation of stores that were written over a period of hundreds of years and by different people. So in my view, it is akin to reading a book which is full of stories. Whether these stories are fact or fiction, I have no idea: for many their faith is strong enough to believe they are fact.
