Oh c'mon, Sanity.  Let's call it what it was.  The Bush II administration squandered all that good will to pursue a pre-existing agenda against Saddam Hussein, and the Dems were so ham-handed and out of touch in their opposition that monkeyboy and co*. got away with it.

And then we were, and are, stuck in the mess we made.

Sanity -> RE: Obama beats first national security test (4/13/2009 8:43:21 PM)

I totally disagree, Rich. The Democrats were all on board. Well, except Kucinich...

Clinton had bomb bomb bombed Iraq and lectured us for years on all the evils of Saddam Hussein.

The only reason the Dems turned on Bush (and worked overtime to turn honest people like yourself against him) was pure partisan politics.

Nothing else. Throw enough mud, some will stick - and there was so much thrown so fast (purely for political gain) that trying to deny it and argue otherwise is just a crock.

They didn't "squander good will" in any way, what happened was the far left began plotting to undermine the administration's every move as soon as the positive poll numbers came out following the 9/11 attacks. There may have been a very brief moment when most of the left was behind them, but that quickly gave way to petty resentment over their popularity, and the vicious attacks over every petty thing imaginable began in earnest.

Are you referring to vicious, petty attacks over such things as pizza parties and the like.Glass houses sanity, glass houses.

Rather than list pages and pages of bush fuck-ups and disasters, tell us one thing he didn`t fuck up(that he had a say in)?

Ohhh this whiny player-hate`n discomfiture is like a cold drink on a hot day.[:D]

Another thing, we won`t get out of President Obama is the leaking of the ID of an under-cover NOC CIA agent.Like bush did.

What a disaster bush was.Oh right,the libs plotted that........<snickers>[8|]

You know Rich I'm starting to think your more towards the middle than I had previously thought. And that is a good thing,a very good thing.

Sanity -> RE: Obama beats first national security test (4/13/2009 8:56:05 PM)

It's "glass houses" as you say for Liberal Democrats to cry and whine about a little bit of criticism of Obama after the way they've been acting for the last eight years mike.

Don't you think?

One thing`s for sure.

We won`t see the President make an aircraft carrier steam in circles(after a long deployment at sea) just to stage a photo op of him landing in a fighter jet, pose in a flight suit(w/ cod piece) and declare "mission accomplished",..... all pompous and blow-hardy.

No drama Obama!

Exactly.  Everyone's talking about the rescue itself, which was entirely due to the SEALs.  Obama's true mark was in the way he kept getting briefed and keeping everything under quiet control.  No "Bring it on" stupidity.

Owner59 -> RE: Obama beats first national security test (4/13/2009 9:23:42 PM)

No drama Obama......nice.

He won`t exploit this for personal political gain either. How refreshing.

As I recall,Clinton didn`t strut around or crow or pat himself on the back.He often shared any credit.Maybe that kind of discrete valor should become a presidential tradition.
