I have already said that I value my free time, but now after a week of a houseguest, and people left and right I actually am quite happy to have too much time on my hands, so to speak. Also I am almost done with the transition from old PC to new. That is for another post. I decided to run of all things a popularity contest of sorts, but it really isn't as there is no opponent.

I've noticed a few things, if you know me you know that I am not always right, but I do not lie. I simply have no reason to. For you to believe that in about a minute or so I will be eating New England Clam Chowdrer with a silver spoon is not a big stretch. What would you care if it were a Big Mac ? Also note that said Clam Chowder is coming out of the microwave in a styrofoam bowl. I am not really all that hot on using styro or less dense plastics in the microwave, but we all gotta die sometime.

Now there's something nice about message boards, I ate that chowder and y'all didn't have to sit here and wait.

Now I am off to form the list of options. Remember, vote early and vote often, it has worked in the past.

Did you bring enough chowder for everybody?

I've never had clam chowder.  I love seafood, but the very thought of that stuff just makes me go 'euwwwwwww'!

And the "vote early and vote often".......you stole that from Dick Goddard!!  Mister Woolllybear himself.   (It's a Cleveland thing.  If you're not from here, ya just wouldn't get it.)  And I will have no disparaging remarks about this fair city.  It is home.  I love it here.  If you don't have anything nice to say about Cleveland, then shaddap!!

But please, feel free to make any and all the snide comments you wish to about Pissburg, though.

Hi ya, Termy!   You can have your poll back now.

I thought 'vote early and often' came from Chicago, Richard Daley.

And Term, New England Clam is disgusting, thick and gloppy. Manhattan's the way to go.

I'm not so much into the whole clammy taste, so my favorite kind of clam chowder is cream of potato soup through which the cook has marched 2 clams smartly.

The only good cream soup is lobster bisque. Nothing else makes the grade IMO.

You had to bring up lobster didn't ya Des. I ain't talking to the dude who took me to this restaurant, but they gave you ½ a lobster with the surf-n-turf but with a twist. Of course it screamed when dropped into the water but subsequently they broiled in in a very hot grill. This only dehydrated it a bit, but it made the lobster meat fall out of the shell. It also seems to have enhanced the flavor. I am not all that fond of the fishy taste, but in moderation, with butter and just once in a whule I like it. I just can't remember the name of the place !

Dammit., Teazer maybe you can help out here, the place is down off Brookpark or something like that. The lobster is boiled, but then they run it though a hot grill, and I have decided that I like that. Instead of poking arouind with a fork you get a chunk of lobster meat on the plate. It was good.

As far as people bitching about clam chowder, I found this to be quite good. No gooeyness or anything, nice relatively thick broth, bunch of stuff in it. Maybe I just got lucky to find a place that makes it good, so maybe others will have to try to find it in other places than before. I enjoyed my chowder. This particular specimen is from Expressway Diner on Memphis Ave. They also have some other strong points, and I just started dealing with them. I am in the process of exploring their menu to see what is good and what is not so good.

Dam U hijackers, now you got me doing it !

So, are we able to make any conclusions from this poll or is it still too early?

You are trying to make sense out of this, you gotta be kidding me. Sometime even when people try to make sense you can't, so don't even try.

Interestingly 43% of the people voting went for that I am a part of life, like fleas.

No, I wasn't expecting to make sense of it all. I was trying to steer the course of the discussion back to the topic at hand.

yanno....it is scary when we go from Termy to cream soup to veggie gardens...and i understand it!!!!!

Pa...the usual...tomatoes, peppers, green beans and more tomatoes and peppers. I want to do cantaloupe and cukes, but have to avoid anything that spreads thanks to a two yr old with a little bike.

Lots of emphasis on tomatoes. I don't can anymore since i discovered you really do just as well to skin and freeze them. The same with peppers...just clean them and put them in the freezer. How about you?

New England Clam Chowder = good.  Manhattan Clam Chowder = good.  Lobster Bisque = drooling good.  Cream of Potato with REAL Bacon = Drooling Good.

The best?  My brother's Green Chili, Red Chili and (My personal fave) Brown Chili.  Throw in a side of Rocky Mtn. Oysters (are you out there, mistoferin?) and we are talking perfection.
