Okay, now let's assume you have someone coming to stay from London - with access to a London supermarket - and they can bring you something for the table, the fridge, cupboard, pantry, whatever..

What would you have them bring?

They can bring things like... chocolate and cookies and stuff, Jelly babies, Wine Gums, Licorice All Sorts, MacVities Digestives, Hob Nobs, Penguin biscuits, Jacob's Cream Crackers..

Tea or coffee?

Cheddar cheese, Red Leicester cheese, Wensleydale cheese, cottage cheese, etc.

Newcastle Brown Ale, Bishop's Finger, Watney's Pale Ale, Guinness, etc.. also cider, gin, wine..

What would your shopping list be?

I've never been there, so I don't know what any of those things are.

However, now that I know they exist, I don't feel I can live a full and happy life without someday eating a Penguin biscuit. Are they made from real penguins, or are they what penguin owners feed their pets?

I know they aren't what they used to be, but I remain a slut for Mr Kipling's items---especially the manor cake, and the French fancies.  Some fresh Eccles cakes would be divine...

You can make your own lemon curd and pasties. Bangers I've never found a good equivalent for. American sausage doesn't contain as much carb filler as bangers do.

scifi1133 -> RE: Fresh in from London (4/15/2009 4:53:43 AM)

blood sausage.

It's a silly answer, and a very uneducated one, but considering I've never been to London Myself, I'd want someone to bring Me the taste of the town.

What I mean by that is, since it's someone who was coming to stay with Me for a week, they would probably know the things that I like.  I'd want that person to bring Me the things they find especially delicious that I would enjoy as well.  A certain kind of treat that is a real find from some small shop or bakery.  Introduce Me to something I've never tried before for a main course and then wow Me with a dessert.

Sorry for the poor answer, but that would be what I'd want.
