It's amazing to me in this day and age that this sort of experiment turns out like it did!

http://www.tweenbots.com/

It sorta reanimates my hope for humanity and quells a bit of my misanthropy. The video on the website is only a couple minutes long.

The experiment as it stands is excellent, and surprisingly simple. For her thesis, a student has created small, human-like cardboard robots that can travel only in a straight line, with a set goal in mind. Dependent on the help of passersby to find their destination... they actually do! Every time they get stuck in a hole, or hit a curb, someone inevitably helps them!

I find it adorable, and I would likely help the little suckers, myself. How about you?

Only if the 'bots had happy faces painted on them. I'd stay clear of any that had perpetual scowls or anger. Actually, I may be more inclined to assist those hard-faced types towards their doom.

Aweee... they are cute! I cannot get the video to play though.

Hmm... that would be interesting if they weren't smiley faces...

I wonder if I'd still help it out o.O I don't honestly know!

Ooo yes.. .give it a typical New Yorker face and see what happens....

Aweee.... I was scared it was going to get hit by the bike for a second.

It is wierd how people get attached to cute things. I think I read somewhere it was instinctive so adults would care for children... or something. I don't find babies cute though... so eh.

GOD I want the Music for my New Theme Song.

It suites me.

Anyway I love the idea and was amazed that she set out to prove that no one would care and it would die. I thought it was amazing.

I would love to be a part of the research.

Thanks for the Link.

It doesn't surprise me.  A moment in my life that I will always remember is having to stop on a rural highway, because a woman was standing in the road trying to figure out how to "help" an alligator-snapping turtle get across the highway.  I got out and stood there with her at a distance and explained to her that it wouldn't be a good idea to approach and "help" it.  I waited with her until it made it across the road.  I returned to my car and snickered to myself for the remainder of my journey.  I think most people are generally good-hearted; at least that's been my experience.
