And you don't think they're terrified the U.S. is going to bomb them first? How do you think America appears to them, after what they've done to Iraq?

Oh well. Shit happens and I have a limited amount of concern that I keep for my homeland.

Time to learn from history. During the Cold War you had two blocks convinced that they were in danger from one another.

Sounds like more anti-American whining to me. During WWII we also liberated a country that seemed very easy to just roll over and give up. One dig deserves another, eh?

This never materialised. The same thing is happening now: why should Iran bomb anybody, only to get the mother of all retaliations? And why shouldn't they be able to defend themselves?

Big difference in the language being used by Iran, and what was being used between the US and the USSR during the Cold War era.

So you support the proliferation and use of nuclear weapons? Yes or no will suffice.

Ah yes, the whole 'if you're not with us, you're against us' mentality. Very disappointing.

And where was that stated? You a very good at twisting the words of others, and then cry foul when it is done to you. What is that called again?

You never answered the direct question either.

I do not support any more countries gaining nuclear weapons. I support the destruction of nuclear weapons, as well as chem and bio weapons. That has always been my position. You see my ethics and morals on this issue do not change depending upon who is involved.

Correct me if I am wrong but your position seems to be that since others have them, then everyone should have them? Yes or no?

Nukes are not for conquering a country. They are for obliterating them.

....not true. Nukes are for preventing anyone else declaring war on you or invading. That's what they've mostly been used as...a deterrant. no-one has ever obliterated a country with nukes, however they have been used to politely suggest fuck off and take your army with you.

Now Iran has a legitimate reason to fear a US invasion. US rhetoric is recent years has done nothing to disabuse them of this notion. If someone was threatening to invade my house, i'd want to install the best means to deter them. Iran wanting a nuke is the same thing. Stability in the middle east is not best served by only allowing the ally of a country that has shown its readiness to invade other countries to have the means to defend itself.

Wouldn't you also stop walking around town and talking about going in and slaughtering your neighbor? What has Iran's message been about Israel and The West?

The idea of Mutually Assured Destruction kept everybody alive during the Cold War.  Besides, what good would it do the war profiteers if everybody on the planet died?  They need to keep everybody alive so that we can keep working for them.

You seem  emotionally invested in this issue. If there's one thing I have learnt, it's not to take people who invest emotions in their nations too seriously - any discussion with them quickly turns into a slanging match. You're attempting to do that right now, and I am simply not interested.

Iran shouldn't get the bomb, and we should get rid of ours. Failing that, I don't see how you will force them not to build their own: unless you want to nuke them first, or even better: invade them and snatch their oil?

God, nations SUCK rofl.

Emotionally vested? You get that how? Yeah I can understand you not being interesting in answering direct questions that illuminate the hypocricy, or inconsistancy in your stance.

More than likely Israel will do that, but based upon your statements they have the right to defend themselves. Short of military intervention, I do not see a way to keep them from getting it. Now prolonging the process until a more moderate government is in charge is a different story.

Now your statement above does seem more in line with what you have said in the past, and is a consistant application of ethics. Welcome back.
