I don't much like being marked up, but I definitely DO like being able to tell I've been paddled the next day. I get a little shiver of "aftershock" when I shift in my office chair and get that hint of pain. Our general rule is that we try and avoid marks, and we don't leave marks where they will be visible in public... that means I have to be careful because my Lady will hickey if I am not damned careful and it justifiably pisses her off because she works in a lab environment with a bunch of guys that tease about that sort of thing. And she's equally careful of me, and part of aftercare when we've had really rough play involves her applying icepacks to keep bruising to a minimum.
