Greetings all,
 
Anyone know why silicone lube is not recommended for use with silicone toys?  Do the toys become hard to clean or is there a chemical breakdown of the surface?

Due to the ingredients contained in both (high concentration in the lube), if used together there would be a chemical breakdown of the surface of the toys, Ven. Silicone is completely waterproof and safe to use with latex... a little of it goes a hell of a long way.

Good point, Steel. I haven't encountered latex that wasn't compatible so will have to vigilant with future purchases of latex.

I realized I am allergic to non latex toys..caused a burning sensation..but when wrapped in non latex sugical glove.Everything was fine

Huh? Do you mean that your allergic to latex toys? I assume that the (non latex) was a typo. Plenty of people have a latex allergy, it can be an issue with latex condoms. If you were getting a burning sensation from a toy and it wasn't from a latex allergy it could also be that the toy contained phthalates.

Did anyone notice the death of the woman in New York Wed. or Thur from silicone. She received silicon as a small injection in her buttocks to improve her looks and died when the silicone travelled to her lungs. Would the same principal apply to silicone administered internally when used on toys etc. If it enters the body and is absorbed, it's free to travel in your blood stream just like it did to her. Any ideas?

chemical breakdown.  Although in general, if you don't use sil lube on really REALLY soft sil toys (do NOT use it on a fleshlight, you can watch those melt in front of your eyes), but on your average dildo or whatever, if you use sil lube and clean it well afterwards (assuming afterwards is under 3 hours), it should generally be fine.

As for Robyn's question, no.  Totally different kinds of silicon.  I mean, I guess if you were to inject a bottle of sil lube into someone, it probably couldn't be GOOD for them, but, for the uses of sex toys and lube, they're actually safer than a lot of water based lubes (many water based lubes have some nasty allergens in them).

One of the better ones out there, is ID Millenium.  It is latex and condom safe.  Also if worried about latex, Lifestyles has a condom brand out called "Skyns" which is latex free and works perfectly with Sil lubes.

God I miss my job in the 'toy store'. :(

Chemical interaction and the surface breaks down, depending on the toy and the silicone they use for it, it can sometimes really cause a "melt down" reaction, or the surface will be less smooth with lots of little crevices which are hard to clean and provide ideal breeding ground for all sorts of nasty bacteria.

If you were playing with jellie toys the burning sensation is usually caused from the plastisizer chemicals  in them off off gassing and irritating your mucus membranes. Now not all jelly toys are poor quality and do that, but a lot do.
