Lucylastic -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 8:07:49 AM)

I dont, I dont have the time, the last thing I need is more distractions from work:)
I have google and skype , I have yahooo but rarely turn it on, only if I know someone is trying to get hold of me> I used to spend a lot of time talking online but it was sooo addictive.
Collarme is my main vice.

I decided after my ahem facebook post to give twitter a chance, and it actually is awesome[8D] I don't twit really but it can be so convenient to get the newest updates from perez hilton for example[:D] it does beat facebook in so many wayz so I found a new timewaster..which isn't as big timewaster as facebook but is still much..better [:)]

LaTigresse -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 8:27:25 AM)

Awww the butterfly is a tweet.

I've not ventured into the twittering world.....it hasn't grabbed my interest.

Perez Hilton.....my guilty pleasure. However, I will deny it with my last dying breath.

The thing that disturbs me is all the kids texting and twittering when they are supposed to be learning. Keep those phones out of class.[8|]

Fitznicely -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 8:37:32 AM)

I tweet. Mostly to watch what the celeb twitterers are up to, if I'm honest.

I have a Facebook plugin that means I only have to post to twitter to update my FB status. Coupled with google reader and the Digsby IM client, I'm prettymuch on top of them both.

Those kids are lucky I am not running the school. It would be a "no cell phones allowed" school. Seriously....they are not necessary at all.

Actually, they are lucky I am not their mother. I see no need for them to have cell phones at all. None.

subtlebutterfly -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 9:00:46 AM)

Tweet[sm=cute.gif]

yanno perez hilton is indeed irresistible[;)]

but..women!!!!...school without cellphone??????????????? I'd DIE[8|] besides..everybody brings a laptop to school (at least to college) with them nowadays..it's up to the kids whether they study or not..but sure I agree kids in primary schools could live without'em [8|]

sappatoti -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 9:04:53 AM)

No tweeting for me (along with no SMSing and IMing only on occasion).

I do not engage in one minute phone calls nor messages limited to 140 or 160 characters. I grew up in an age where if people wanted to communicate with each other, they did so in substantive conversations, whether they be meeting and talking on the street (or any where else), written letters, or making the time for long phone calls. The concept of a sound or idea bite wasn't present.

Frankly, I'm amazed that people seem to get along as well as they do with the thousands of distractions they choose to subject themselves to during the day. :-)

Ah, well. I suppose this is the present definition of "generation gap."

:-)

LaTigresse -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 9:29:05 AM)

Dude, your 49, not 109.

I actually prefer short and sweet. My siblings and I actually keep in touch with one another better now that we all have internet for IM's and cells phones for texting. When my sister is going through a rough time, a quick "I love you!" means the world to her when I know she really doesn't want to talk about it. Same with my adult son. My daughter, a quick phone call is more like 3 minutes. Maybe we are just weird but sometimes we don't want to talk, just knowing the other person is thinking about us and cares is perfection.

Every month or three, we take the time for a nice long conversation.

It's all about having the best of both for me.

Saffleur -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 9:50:30 AM)

I twitter as well, have two accounts, a personal one and then one for the website I run. The second is for Herpetology stuff, automatically updates twitter when the website updates etc.

aravain -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 11:17:18 AM)

~FR~

I'm tweeting up the silence today, myself :D I check/update multiple times per day (usually between classes, sometimes in while I'm taking notes on my laptop).

It's a ridiculously easy way of keeping up with my friends and having sort of a big 'group chat' (since most of the friends I follow also follow me and each other). I'm also following a good number of news tweet-feed type people, and GLBT peeps for fun. I started using tweet deck to keep everything ordered and separate.

Yes, it released my inner stalker.[:D]
And it's fast.  All the others tend to take too long.

DemonKia -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 12:00:38 PM)

As a poet, short form is both seductive & useful, so I've been intrigued with Twitter just on those terms . . . . It's restriction on characters puts me in mind of haiku -- tweating as 'net-ku . . . . . lol

I'm not sure how it ultimately fits into my world, but I check in with it coupla times a day, & I post mostly quotes, to uplift & vivify the masses . . . . . lol

I'm with LaTigresse -- if I knew mi familia, et alia, would keep it short & sweet, I'd answer the phone a lot more . .. . . . Eeeeee-gads, hours long phone calls test my patience . ..... .

An odd little side story about my Twitter experience so far:

My actual, honest-to-gawd given name is 'Kia' (long story about why my mother gave me that name, not germane to my point here at the moment) . . . . . . & all my life there have been darn few other 'Kias' out there, I kept track . ... I think I was up to somewhere around a half dozen other 'Kias' that I knew of before Twitter . . . . Then I got tweated by another 'Kia' & got an idea . . .. . Searched for other 'Kias' on Twitter & found dozens -- I've dubbed us Tribe-Kia . . . . So, I'm following all those gals . .. . No idea why, but it was very cool . . . . . ..

I try not to get too goal-oriented & controlling in life, as I've found it can eliminate possibilities of serendipity . . . . . . . .

aravain -> RE: Who Twitters? (4/17/2009 12:58:34 PM)

there's whole tweeters devoted just to writing haiku... it's actually a fairly well-used hash-tag (myself I use #Fluffyku, to distinguish myself :P). It's a ton of fun.
