Being on the receiving end of some sounds from a Domme friend of mine got me thinking about the proper sterilization process. She acquired one of those devices from her dentist that looks like a small oven and is used to sterilize dental instruments but I heard there is a solution that can accomplish that if they soak in it for about 15 mins. If anyone knkows the name ( no, it's not bleech) I would appreciate the reference.

I don't know what solution you're referring to, but if the "small" oven device is an autoclave and it's in good working order. That is the preferred way to sterilize things that can take the heat and moisture.

Agreed...autoclave is the preferred method for this situation, especially if she will be using them on more than one person. It is expressly designed for sterilizing medical implements that can stand the heat. Sounds certainly fit in that category.

The sounds need to be cleaned correctly(first step). I would also recommend a small bench top ultrasonic cleaner before placing instruments in an autoclave. On a flash cycle(items unwrapped)the correct parameters must be 134.5 degrees for 4minutes sterilizing time or its equivilent 121 degrees for a longer period of time.An indicator should be placed in with the items(level 5)If the indicator changes color and you have a print out of the cycle which has reached the correct parameters, then the item should be considered sterile. The chemical you descibe is called Miltons here in Australia, but i would recommend the autoclave process.
