TheHeretic -> RE: Care for some 'local' politics? (4/17/2009 9:15:00 PM)

I've got a city councilwoman who was elected on the strength of an hispanic surname whose first motion on the council was to ban any city business being conducted in a language other than English. A former State Assemblywoman whose new law restricting where convicted sex offenders can live resulted in MORE sex offenders being forced to move into her district. A personal injury attorney turned small-city mayor trying to pass blatantly discriminatory laws, and insisting that the county they contract with for services will have to both enforce the unconstitutional laws, and eat the resulting lawsuits. Thousands of acres of land taken by eminent domain decades ago to build an airport, that was never built, being offered up for solar power facilities to the highest bidder. A subsidized housing program that will pay far more for the rents on local housing than people who work in the local area could ever afford to pay. Of course, when it comes to the local stuff, I get pretty active.
