Have you ever tried displaying the photo grid without specifying the orientation sought and choosing, say 20, people of the opposite sex you feel attracted to. It's funny to look at the outcome. In my case 90% of the girls I found attractive were subs.

I think their posture reveals their orientation. Subconsciously you recognize and choose the right ones. Try it out and tell, if it worked.

Needless to say, it only works with equal statistical distribution of all orientations.

On Topic I need you to dumb this down a little cause I don't see how the Post Matches the Title of the Thread..... Unless you are using a Made up statistic to show that you are more attracted to submissives than Domme's.

I think the truly dominant male (who is rare) has a very particular aura about him - which I would probably describe as quiet confidence.  Understated, not overstated.  It is something which emanates from within him.  If he doesn't have that - and especially if he is insecure and overcompensating - all the leather, whips and posturing in the world will not compensate for the lack of inner strength and inner confidence.

When I first joined CM I looked at a lot of photos to see what other women of my age and orientation looked like (trying to see if I measured up).  It made me want to print a tutorial and what NOT to do.  DON'T have the camera you are taking a picture with show up in the photo, especially if there is a flash.  DON'T scowl.  DON'T look like you could wish like you could be doing anything in the world except having your picture taken.  LOL

I enjoyed viewing photos of other people in my geographic area and there are some truly beautiful women here.  There are some that aren't so beautiful yet something in their attitude in the photo draws you to them.  However, I agree with the OP that it is more likely to see that in submissive women than the dominant ones I viewed.  (There were also far more subs than Dommes, so no doubt the sheer numbers had something to do with it.)  Some of the Doms were just plain slobs, one guy leaning back in his chair and using his belly to hold something up with. 

You'd think that people would want to present themselves at their best.  Even so, I was criticized for my photo.  I thought it looked alluring, looking up into the camera with big eyes and a look of innocence, playing with my hair, striking the pose that I had read makes a man feel like a big strong man.  : )  I had people tell me that I should have held my hair like a collar, some that told me that my sex change operation had gone well (born a female, still a female), some that felt that I should have shown more than bare shoulders and others that felt I should have shown less.  There's no pleasing everyone.

These photos are to attract someone, not to make them cringe.

It isn't a good test anyhow as you are not getting who folks ARE just what they want to present themselves as at that point in time. I've had several occassions where I've played with a sub and a few months or years later I see them around on the scene or one one of these sites supposedly as someones Mistress or 'Goddess'.... Does that Make Me Zeus then? [:D] I know a number of Dommes that, without naming names have said the same thing about some of the Doms on the scene or on these sites.

I look at many supposed Mistresses, especialy the younger ones and see what I reads as submissive traits in the photo and service top in the written profile.... Like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder!

I normally do not have time to just look at the photos, but on rare occasion I will, just for s&g's.

There is specific "type" of male that attracts Me...not to say that I don't find people attractive out of that box...but I do have a type that just "does it" for Me.
That said, when I see them, I imagine them hanging from a cross....doesn't matter what their orientation says.   If it happens they are dominant, I laugh and go on with looking, if it happens they are sub or slave and are not owned I MIGHT send a note, depending on what they have posted in the forums or what is written on their profile.

To the original poster:

I ask that you run your initial test again only limit yourself to omit spamscammers (as much as possible).
a) I suggest you order your photo grid by "last on" and only take into consideration those who logged in the last few months.
b) I suggest you limit your age range to stay away from the almost-completely-spam range (I'd start at 30 as a bare minimum but you can choose)
c) I suggest you limit your distance to something reasonable of you (like 100 miles or whatever gets you enough data points).

My hypothesis is that you'll find a more "realistic" sampling if you follow those three suggestions above.
What did you find out from that re-test?

I can't speak for the OP, but when I was talking about viewing the pictures, I wasn't talking about the actual search feature itself, just the "view photo" feature, so you can't filter anything besides gender.

When I used the selection criteria on the search profile feature, too many to note come up and it would take too long to go through all of them

It's interesting the difference in our search results. You get too many; I get too few. (But we each only need 1 good one.)

Methinks the only way I can get more than a dozen prospective "hits" in my search is to open it up unrealistically wide (most likely by age or distance) which defeats the purpose in the first place. Interesting. Let's see how others fare.

Very interesting challenge!
I used my favourite search criteria for physical characteristics only [males aged 33-49, taller than 5'10, under 200 lbs], within commute distance, but of 'any' orientation, looking for 'not specified', and checked out the first 20.  The least attractive were sadly far more common, and almost all doms:  8/10, the other two being bi- and switches. 

There were only three I found attractive, and were [tada!] all straight male subs.  [sm=candles.gif]

At least according to their own advertising, I can call 'em, and pick 'em!

You might want to rethink distance more than age and then search for those looking only to relocate.  If I were to look for only those within a 50 mile radius around My area, I'd find almost nobody.  My current pet was living over 500 miles away when I first met him online.
