Yeah subrob imagine an American University being proud to host a American President.Or is it just this American President?

subrob1967 -> RE: President Obama won't share the stage with Jesus (4/19/2009 6:31:25 PM)

He is the "only" American President asked to cover up religious symbols that we know of.

slvemike4u -> RE: President Obama won't share the stage with Jesus (4/19/2009 6:37:52 PM)

So Catholic Universities, for instance, should reject opportunities to host an American President?
Interesting to say the least.

Nobody cares, except those that are so ensconced in superstition their opinion is irrelevant anyway.

Um maybe they could use an auditorium, with the curtains closed behind the Pres.

lilmissdefiant -> RE: President Obama won't share the stage with Jesus (4/19/2009 7:51:28 PM)

Obama should not have to share the stage with Jesus (mostly because he isn't real) but also because its a golden rule to keep Politics and Religion very very separate.

Just to be clear here...it's Jesus that isn't real right?
I mean we are all in agreement that Prseident Obama is real...right?

ZhuRenDianandted -> RE: President Obama won't share the stage with Jesus (4/20/2009 1:33:20 AM)

Maybe it is like Superman and Clark Kent that can't be in the room at the same time, and none of it is real.

I don't know, I've never seen either of them in person, so I can't vouch.  Maybe they're both fake.  Or just mayyyyyybe they're both the same person as Santa!*

*whom I do still believe in.

Well, maybe he can start wearing a Jesus lapel pin to make up for it.

Right below the American flag lapel pin we heard so much about during the campaign.

But wait, if he wears the flag pin on top then he'll be guilty of not putting Jesus above all else.

Then again, if he wears the flag pin below he'll be unpatriotic.

I think I'm going to phone this in to Fox.  I'm sure Newt will be able to turn this into a "breaking controversy" that they can milk for weeks.

GreedyTop -> RE: President Obama won't share the stage with Jesus (4/20/2009 6:50:55 AM)

a pin on each lapel?

a pin on each lapel?

Nope, won't work either.

Even if they are measured out to exactly the same height, because then the "breaking news story" will be "Obama Can't Decide What's More Important To Him".

And a chicken in every pot, cookies on every plate, a cape in every phone booth, and a partridge in a pear tree!

No matter what he does or where he speaks, there are going to be people bitching about it.
It's amazing.

But it has always been that way, at least the last 40 years...from Johnson through Ford through Clinton through Bush.  Now, it is Obama's turn.

Alas, tis true.  To paraphrase, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time... But be damned if you can ever please any of them."

That's a bit juvenile, especially in the light of the OP (I mean, honestly, who the fuck cares? How is Jesus pertinent to the running of this country?). You seem to be implying that it is fair game to pick on any ridiculously irrelevant detail just to try and mark a point against someone who just took on the hardest job around.  It's not election time for a while yet. How very sad [&o].

Actually, what is a bit juvenile is you removing the rest of the statement from my words and the post to which they were given in response.  By itself...and itself alone...you are right, the statement does seem juvenile.
But that's not how the statement was meant and I believe anyone who has taken the time to read all the way through the postings would know that.  And by the way, aren't you the one who has accused me...and other conservative posters...of picking apart things from the liberal side to make our point even when we bother to answer FULL posts in the context they were written?

As for what Jesus has to do with running of this country...not a thing.  But it was Obama and his handlers' decision to go to Georgetown.  If he has not dictated what should or should not be covered up in Jewish or Muslim facilities on his travels, then why should he or his handlers be dictating what should be covered up in a Christian university?

Very well put,lilmissdefiant.

Thanks for injecting a little common sense in.Hopefully it will displace some of the obvious loathing and venom.

(Long quote or short quote, your sentiment remains the same. It makes absolutely zilch difference :-) .
