Personally, way too many of the "expert" books I've seen tend to be really naive in their writing and show an inability to realize that not everyone experiences bdsm "their" way. I've come across a few good ones here and there, but I'm forever forced to remember the one time I was at a bdsm party and approached by a woman who had written one of the books on the bdsm required reading lists of that time. She started talking to me about how her publisher wanted her to update her book, and asked me (mainly because I was a known slave entity because I happened to be collared by a very sought after professional domme who didn't give such interviews) if I had any thoughts. I said perhaps she might want to focus a bit more on the Internet community. Her response: "There's a bdsm presence on the Internet?" Right then and there I decided my Mistress had a good reason for not talking to these people. They often know less than the rest of us, even though the rest of us are nowhere near experts in our own minds.
